Hello everyone!
This is my first attempt at an official ROOT. Today I found that my to be read list had swelled to 75 tomes. I keep a dedicated book case for the books waiting to be read, and there's scant room for more, so I would like to focus on reducing this number. My ultimate goal would be maintaining only one shelf of yet to be read books, and this seems like a great way to start moving toward that goal. I'm starting tracking this in the end of May, so in the remaining 7 months of the year I would like to read 15 books from my current stash. I will list the books waiting to be read below, and update with dates that they are finished.

It's funny how so many of us come from such different places & tolerances, ROOT-wise... It would be amazing to me to only have 1 bookshelf of TBRs waiting for me! Alas, my pile is over 1000.... :-o But that's not even very big compared to some others! And yet, other ROOTers have TBRs that are in the single- and double-digits... as a lifetime book-hoarder, I cannot even imagine... ;)

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I'm already finding this group to be extremely motivating with moving through my books. I've never read as many books in a single month as I have this last one, and I believe that's in part due to having this type of public accountability.
I've been thinking about my ultimate goal of reading through my books with an eye towards reducing their overall number. Does anyone else find that tracking books in/vs books out to be additionally helpful? Perhaps that's information I should track for myself in here as well. There's an amazing used bookstore that I like to visit, and I don't think I've ever been able to leave without an armload of books each time! I can see how one trip would single-handedly undo months of diligent reading progress.

I've noticed one or two members of this group who track 'books discarded'. So yes, some people find it useful and you've given me a nudge that I should maybe think of doing the same because my acquisitions are mounting up as I 'reward' myself for ROOTs read!

>9 RavenHill: I don't track in/out, but I do track read/in (if that makes sense), primarily because I'm rubbish at getting rid of books, but do want to keep an eye on what's coming in in relation to what I'm reading. I'm aiming for a ratio this year of 1.5 books acquired for every book I read (with an aim of reducing that further next year - last year my ratio was 1:2 books read:books acquired). I've found that really helpful.
