Or two LT fiends, anyway. Our local community association had its big bi-ennial used book sale yesterday, and stellar_dust and I. Um. Bought some books. One sign of LT addiction is buying books just so you can add them to your catalog, right?

Another sign is taking pictures while you do it.

This is what the trunk of her car looked like after:

Stellar_dust entering Night Flight, with the others waiting around her:

Taking cover pictures!

It's probably another sign that you look at your catalog after and feel relieved that *this* time, you've added less than 40 books...

melannen:

True on all counts. But what enormous fun it looks! It's no wonder we're addicts. ;)

(Thanks for sharing the pictures!)

Thanks! When we finished filling the trunk, my first thought was : we must take pictures to post on LT!

... I suppose that's another sign of addiction.

(It was even fuller then, because we brought a third, non-LT friend with us who bought just as many as either of us.

LOL. Sounds great. Glad you've got local book-loving friends, as well as a rather blameless and pleasure-filled addiction, melannen!

The 'car trunk' picture certainly looks familiar.

(That's why I started taking my little roadster to our big local sale: to limit myself, so that I didn't accidently come home with a carful of encyclopedias or something....)

And welcome to LT, melannen.

(A Star Wars collector, huh? I'm a bit too old for that partcular Enthusiasm, but I did have to wrestle myself to the ground to stop myself from becoming a Star Trek completist.)

I, um. I haven't cataloged the Star Trek books yet. Maybe after I do the giant encyclopedia sets. They're in boxes under the bed. I should get around to that one of these days. (We gave up on ST around the time of the Dominion War, but yeah, we probably have at least 75% of the books published up to that point ...I'm not sure I want to know.)

(...I'm not sure I want to know.)

That's it exactly. I entered and tagged a bunch of my ST books - the first score or so, and some of the ST novels written by 'name-brand' authors - but there's another boxful of the stuff that I don't really want to publicly acknowledge....

AsYouKnow_Bob and I have, many times, encountered the same sight in the back of our car after a big book sale. Usually we just have a great time at the book sale, and barely register how many books we're buying. The full impact of our folly doesn't hit us until we open the back of the car once we get home (as in: Yikes! How are we going to find places to put these in the house? Why did we do this, anyway?)
The answer, of course, is that it's just so much fun to go to book sales.

Last Sunday was the $2/bag book sale at a local library. We'd already been to the big book sale the day before, so we didn't need more books. (Of course, we didn't need more books before we went to that sale, either.) Anyhow, Bob was being really brave and resisting going to the bag sale. But I really felt like having another go at all the books left from the previous day's sale. So off we went, and wouldn't you know, the back of our car looked like that 2 days in a row! (and we'd emptied it after the first sale).
It's great to have some kindred spirits we can commiserate with. Thanks for the pictures, melannen!

SimonW11 -- what place is that a photo of? I would be in heaven sitting there surrounded, literally, by manna.

It looks nice, but I'd hate to try and find something. Can you imagine how long it will take to put them back?

I'm rather late to this conversation but Friday I hit two local library sales and spent $260. About $10 worth of books were mine and the other $250...well, that went to my former place of employment. All the fun of spending hundreds of dollars at a book sale without the Yikes factor Maggie O mentions above. Really, it's quite a buzz having to take four or five dolly loads out to the car...

Extreme book buying - a new sport! That's one team we're all not likely to get picked last for, eh?
