It will be so nice being able to check out other Nerdfighter libraries and hearing about all the books you love!

I wonder how many of us found the Green brothers because of our love of well written words? I think both brothers are very gifted writers or else their year of videos would not have been as entertaining, educational and sometimes profound as they were.

I have read Looking for Alaska and An Abundance of Katherines by John Green and loved them both. I read both brothers websites: Ecogeek and SparksFlyUp and the quality of their casual writing shines through.

I also think they they are both wikid funny. What about you? What led you to become a Nerdfighter and which came first for you LT or Bro2.0?

What do you think?

Thanks for this thread, I can't wait to meet all the Nerdfighters who Librarything who are made of super-awesome.

I found B2.0 from a LT review of Looking for Alaska, which led me to sparksflyup, which I love! That led me to B2.0 just in time to be part of the secret project, and I had way too much fun catching up on the videos! I used to live in Indianapolis and I loved Looking for Alaska, so I'm trying real hard not to stalk John Green here or there!

And then I found Hanks ecogeek site, and that brings me full circle. Before I was a nerdfighter and a mom I was an Environmental Chemist and was all about enforcing environmental regs and cleaning up horrific hazardous sites using all kinds of technology and waste reduction. So I'm trying real hard not to stalk Hank either.

Instead, I'm stalking all my new NF friends and especially my new LTNF friends, all of whom are wikid funny and smart.

I have to agree that the Green Brothers have gifts for the spoken and the written word. That they're both great guys comes through loud and clear. So I guess I'm not a stalker, but I'm bordering on rabid fan...

Nerdfighters + Librarything = an overload of awesome. Just saying.

I actually discovered B2.0 when the WGA blog linked to John's video where he explained why the writers guild is striking. I liked John's understandable explanation and went back and watched all of the videos from the very beginning. So I was a librarythinger before I was -officially- a nerdfighter...but I think that using LT as obsessively as I have means that I was a nerdfighter long before I was aware of the term. :)

Unfortunately I've been failing at life since I haven't had the chance to read either of John's books. They've made their way to the top of my list of books to buy after I know I'm going to have enough money to pay my rent this month though, so hopefully by the end of the month I will own and have read both of them. I've heard nothing but good reviews about both of them so I'm really looking forward to reading them.

Well, I was a Nerdfighter before I was a librarythinger and the story goes like this:

I found Brotherhood 2.0 via Scott Westerfeld's blog when he linked to John's day in the life of a writer video and I've been an avid watcher ever since. Naturally when John first mentioned LibraryThing in one of his videos I, being a Nerdfighter, immediately went to check it out and now I have cataloged my whole library here and I love it.

That's pretty much it, I'm really looking forward to seeing where this group goes.

I'm here! Okay, this is SO worth $25! I found Shelfari first, with the help of my friend, Nerdfighter JeninLB, and was hesitant to change since I had ~just~ gotten started there and had tagged and rated at least 300 of my books already, but the format here makes it even easier, and I love the database style sorting, and the community - I am already way happy with LT!!

Thank You, Atlas, for being a "LibraryThing Missionary"!!! :-)

This so so strange to be the first person to say that I found b2.0 through the Accio Deathly Hallows video. I'm usualy the 8th or so.

I actually just joined LT because of a blog post on the new Ning Nerdfighter site. I was sorely dismayed to find that I own so few books. I suppose I read more library books than I thought.

Don't despair Clever, I no longer possess all the books in my library either. But once I've entered and reviewed them, I'm not deleting them, but I may tag them as gone, loaned, library, etc. My little library pales in comparison to some, but I'm here for the book reviews and suggestions more than the cataloging. Hope you enjoy it here.

Man, I was so late in the game for becoming a Nerdfighter. I found out about Brotherhood 2.0 on December 17th, the day of the secret project to decrease worldsuck. I then watched all of their videos to see what I had been missing all year.

I suppose I first found out about LibraryThing through one of John's videos, but I didn't really remember it. However, thanks to StumbleUpon, I rediscovered the site and thanks to my awesome brother, I payed the $25 so all of my books could hang out on here. :D

And I actually just ordered bother of John's book. 8D

"I was sorely dismayed to find that I own so few books. I suppose I read more library books than I thought."

You don't have to OWN the books you catalog here - you can tag them "own" or "wishlist" or "read" or "unread" or whatever you want. I have books I own, books I've read, and books I want, among others. I think LT is a great way to keep track of, and "own" all the books you've read! Without actually having them take up space in your home, which if you are a big reader (or have a small home), can be sort of a problem.

Have fun!
