Poldark Group Read (December): Bella Poldark

Well, we finally made it to the last book in the Poldark series! Are you excited to complete the series or sad that it's coming to an end? What do you think will happen in this last book? Specifically, who's going to get married? (My money's on Clowance and Bella, though I don't know who their husbands will be!) Who's going to die? (I kind of think George and/or Valentine might, but I honestly have no idea!) Would it be a more satisfying ending for you if (a) Ross defeats George in their lifelong feud or (b) the Poldarks and Warleggans finally learn to live in peace? Please discuss below! :)

Whoo Hoo! I'll be starting Bella today. Probably my last book for the 2017 Challenge.

I'm caught up - The Twisted Sword was a great series entry, and I'm looking forward to reading this one.

Started last night, and still hoping to finish before the end of the month! I'll have some time while I'm home for the holidays.

Finished Bella and loved it. My second favorite book of the series. I agree with >3 avatiakh: very satisfying.

I'm a ways into Bella Poldark and enjoying it.

Favorite of the series: I'm a pushover for Demelza, the character and the book.

I finished today! My absolute favorite scene was when Edward receives Clowance's letter accepting his proposal. It was adorable and had me grinning from ear to ear!

I really loved this book overall -- it might be one of my favorites in the series! But I do have a few complaints. Most importantly, there's never really a resolution of the Poldark/Warleggan conflict. Ross and George seem to mend fences when they go into business to help Valentine, but of course it doesn't last, and they quarrel in their final scene together. I would have liked some more closure there! I also felt there was a lack of resolution in Bella's storyline, since she and Christopher never really discuss what happened between her and Maurice in Rouen. In general, I didn't really feel like this was the final book in the series. It made me wonder whether Graham was intending to write more but died before he had the opportunity!
