Hi Toad, welcome!

>4 StudyGuideQueen: After I had read On talking terms with Dogs my eyes were opened to a whole new level of communicating with my dogs. It was a benefit to us all at the time.

FAMeulstee,

Thanks for the input! I really need it. My Precious Sister is a delicate sort, with a lot of puppyhood trauma (not unlike me, oddly enough). I know it takes special learning to handle me properly. Which means I've probably fallen far too short to meeting her needs for the first 6 years minus 9 months of her life. She is a delicate hearted little person of the Dog Type. So I hope to truly understand HER Views of the world, and learn to HEAR her better with that book. I know, I sound nutty, but then my book titles should indicate where I stand on the Peopleness of Everything.

Welcome! Doesn't look like we'll be sharing a lot of reads, but I hope you'll enjoy yours!

Hi, thronton37814,

THANKS! I will pop over and check out your list for this year, too! I tend to be 'out there' in my reading preferences, as you gently noted, so I'm not surprised.

I used to read fantasy stories (Bradley, McKillip, Lewis, etc) when I was in my teens, predominantly; with folklore, astronomy, cultural anthropology, and world religions. Which are all still obsessions of mine. Anyway, you didn't ask.

May your year in reads be EPIC!

>9 StudyGuideQueen: I don't decide in advance what I'll read. I just kind of play it by ear. I read lots of mysteries and historical fiction. I've read a lot of picture books this year, but that's a bit of a fluke because I went to a big sale and purchased lots to donate to my great nephew. However, I had to read them to make sure they were okay, right?

OOO! Thornton37814! I decide what i want to read. The final ACTUALLY READ may be radically different.

Tee hee, DEFINITELY you had to check out the picture books! Us obsessive readers keep the world safe!!!!

So, checking in part way through July, I can proudly say I have not read what I intended to at all! Well, ALMOST, at all.

However in spite of that, I have read Volumes 1-5 of the Young Wizards series:

(1) So You Want to Be A Wizard
(2) Deep Wizardry
(3) High Wizardry
(4) A Wizard Abroad
(5) The Wizard's Dilemma

I've stopped here, as I have come to understand the next book was edited by the author to correct her errors regarding an autistic character present in the print version of the book - but the corrections only show up in the electronic version of the book. So.... I'm autistic. I don't need to see more ignorance-fueled inaccurate characterizations of my sort of folks - so I won't be reading the paper version any time soon. I hear the EBOOK with the corrections is MUCH BETTER REPRESENTATION! For which I'd like to thank Dian Duane HEARTILY!

From Kim Mikyoung's artful pen, I've read, so far:

(6) Bride of the Water God, Vol 1
(7) Bride of the Water God, Vol 2
(8) Bride of the Water God, Vol 3
(9) Bride of the Water God, Vol 4
(10) Bride of the Water God, Vol 5
(11) Bride of the Water God, Vol 6

From CLAMP's gifted authors and artists, I've read:

(12) xxxHolic Omnibus, Vol 1
(13) xxxHolic Omnibus, Vol 2
(14) xxxHolic Omnibus, Vol 3
(15) xxxholic Omnibus, Vol 4
(16) xxxHolic Omnibus, Vol 5
(17) xxxHolic Omnibus, Vol 6
(18) xxxHolic Omnibus, Vol 7

(19) xxxHolic Rei, Vol 1
(20) xxxHolic Rei, Vol 2
(21) xxxHolic Rei, Vol 3
(22) xxxHolic Rei, Vol 4

(23) Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles Omnibus, Vol 1

From Yoshino Satsuke's pen:

(24) Barakamon, Vol 6 ...this was on my list.
(25) Barakamon, Vol 7 ...this was on my list...
(26) Barakamon, Vol 8 ...this was on my list...
(27) Barakamon, Vol 9 ...this was on my list...

From the Mind of Rumiko Takahashi:

(28) InuYasha VizBig, Vol 17 ...this was on my list...
(29) InuYasha VizBig, Vol 18 ...this was on my list...

I'm in process of STUDYING, not just READING:

~30~ The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up ...this was on my list...
~31~ The Tao of Craft ...this was on my list...
~32~ Immortal Sisters ...this was on my list...
~33~ The Healing Power of Qi ...this was on my list...

How is everyone else's Year in Books going?

drneutron!

I'm so late replying to everything! It definitely counts! It's interesting how much I've LEARNED from it? more along the lines of, like, Life principles that work, ones that don't, how choices play out, why it's best to be empathic and gentle with everyone and honor their experience where they are to boost mutual respect. I'm really enjoying it. I've finished even more since last posting.

Fruits Basket vol 9-12, Inu X Boku SS vol 2.
The delightfully eccentric and very sincere GOBEKLI TEPE: Genesis of the Gods by Collins.

I'm happy to say that even though I thought I was done with my reading for the year, but it keeps going. I'm reading a lot more even now. I'm grateful for this group, and for the encouragement to keep plugging away! You all rock!

I'm glad that it's been a good experience for you. I've found that being in the group has expanded my reading in ways I hadn't thought about - been reading a wider variety of books and authors, and it's all been great!
