One of my questions was along those lines -- (spoiler for the end of GoF) I remarked last week that I really liked the fake Moody better than the real Moody. Here's my question: were there signs that Moody was not who he claimed to be? Did he do or say anything out of character? As readers, we wouldn't have gotten any such hints, but was there anything that Dumbledore should have seen as suspicious? For example, would the real Moody have turned Draco into a ferret? Would the real Moody have taught them about the Unforgivable Curses? Just something to think about.

well, the real moody was a member of the OotP so yes I think he would have. Besides he mentions that DD wanted him too so if he didn't that would seem suspicious, right? Besides that Moody was a rebel, turning students into ferrets yeah I think Moody would do that!

I agree that Moody would have taught the Unforgivable Curses, but I'm not so sure about the ferret thing. I think that was an expression of Barty Crouch's hatred for Death Eaters that walked free -- which would include Lucius Malfoy.

I liked the establishing of the magical worlds beyond England (it made me wonder what the American institution of witchcraft and wizardry was- probably in Salem) I was a little disappointed that those institutions were not mentioned as much in the final book. The war was localized to England.

I love the ferret scene. Maybe my fav in the whole series.

Anyhoo, one thing that struck me this time is WHY does Barty/Mad Eye teach anyone, especially Harry how to divert the Imperious curse? You would think that Voldy would want them nice and compliant.

And isn't is cool that it's the bit of Voldy in Harry that makes him resist the Imperius curse in the first place?

Another thought: as much as I hate SPEW, you have to admit it seems like something Hermione would do. Character building is JKR's forte, definitely.

After reading these chapters, members of my family wandered around interjecting the words "CONSTANT VIGILANCE" into conversation at random intervals. Made for an interesting few weeks. . . .

I still do it! Barty as Moody had to make his teaching believable to dd and the other memeber of the order so thats why he did it

i was always so amazed at the acting job Crouch put on. To fool DD and all the rest of the staff is impressive. A note on you guys sayign order memebers, technically the Order didn't exsit at ths point in time. And moody didn't seem like a real party person before hand
