Does anyone have this book? Is this book marbled?

>5 George_Allen: my dad purchased it for himself, I will look into it after school to answer your question. I know that my dad told me he had problem reading it since the font is very small. The book is small and gorgeous at the same time. Congratulations on your purchase.

I have it, but I literally opened it and put it on a shelf for a week and now the leather has somehow managed to rub off on the bottom. I am meticulous with my books too: I only pick them up, carefully, to dust them. Usually I do not even open the plastic wrap, but I was not aware the book did not come wrapped inside its slipcase.
I guess what I'm saying is that while yes, it is nice, I am upset about the quality.

Folio Society published an excellent “Twelve Caesars,” translated by Robert Graves and illustrated with wood engravings. More than 60 copies are available on abe.com for $8.00 and up. My copy is dated 2000 and is bound in some kind of “tough” fabric, and the font is big enough to read easily.

I thought about this one but picked up the LEC version instead. It's larger and easier to read, has color photos, and the prior owner had made a nice glassine/paper re-cover to hide the ugly yellow-and-red boards. I'm pretty happy with it and recommend it to anyone who missed out on the EP version.
Also, EP's website now states: We're sorry, this product is temporarily unavailable and is currently closed to new orders.
If it still says that by Monday I'm inclined to believe this was only the first-half printing. I don't see anything indicating that it has a limitation number, either.

Roccosem - Ive never had that happen with an EP book. At least from my experience, this isn’t normal. I would call EP and just let them know. I’d have to believe that they would offer some kind of resolution.
They are usually really good about that kinda stuff.

Interesting. Thank you--I will definitely contact them. Another member asked for pictures, but I don't see where to upload photos?

It looks like the Tales of Troy and Greece (3216) also sold out:

Folio printed a book on the later Caesars bound in full leather that may be of interest to those buying this title. For the Twelve Caesars I'm sticking with my HP edition.

I have the earlier EP Famous Edition of this title; it doesn't seem to pop up up on eBay as often, but you should be able to get it for less than $100.

I don't have this edition, but it seems exquisite. I mean, I LOVE the LEC, but all the illustrations from the 1717 edition... hard to beat!
