Hi, I'm .cris, I run a film group here, so I'm obviously a reader and a watcher. I have read the book and seen the film, but I've no problem with going again. I've chosen the audio book, read by the author, who, in my opinion, is one of the best narrators around.

Hello! I have had this book on my tbr for almost 9 years, so thank you for the inspiration to get it off the pile and into my head. I've never seen the movie either so I think this will be fun.

I enjoy reading many different genres but YA is probably one of the least read. The only other book I've read by Gainman is Coraline, which I liked.

Greetings. This book has been on my tbr list for a very long time. I adored the movie. I don't read much fantasy, usually stick to literary fiction. Looking forward to stepping outside of my comfort zone for a while!!

I’ve seen the film several times so I bought the book since I’ve read and liked some of Gaiman’s other works. I’ve actually recently read the book for the first time so I might just pop in for discussions - but I’m happy to rewatch the film anytime.

Hi! I've read the text-only edition and listened to the audiobook several times (Gaiman is a great narrator). I've picked-up the illustrated edition from the library and am looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts on the book and movie.

Hi. I'm Phil. I've read Stardust once before - got it on my Kindle - and I've seen the film several times on TV. As always there's more in the book than in the film but when I read the book the film didn't retrospectively disappoint. I don't think there's anything in it that would annoy Gaiman purists. (if there are Gaiman purists.) I'm currently reading Neil Gaiman's 'American Gods' on Kindle and I've read 'Neverwhere' also on Kindle. So far I think 'Stardust' is my favourite.

Hey all, I'm Kristi, and will be joining in on the OLOB/Movie Night. I've seen the movie before, but don't remember it well so will be enjoying a re-watch. I'm currently reading the book for the first time ever (not sure how—also my first Gaiman book, really not sure how!), and it's going by very easy not only because of the book itself but because fantasy is my fictional go-to genre. This is going to be a fun read/watch, for sure.

I have read American Gods and Good Omens. I liked them both. My reading mood has changed since then so let’s see how it goes. I have 12 hours of flying ahead of me starting tomorrow! Perfect timing.

I'm Erin, love Neil Gaimen and am a third of the way through reading Stardust. I am enjoying it immensely. It reminds me a little bit of 'The Night Circus' by Erin Morgenstern, which I loved, and the 'Princess Bride' - but these are early days so I might revise that! Looking forward to the movie which I have not seen. Must finish the book first!

Greetings! I read Stardust once before and didn't really care for it, but perhaps I'll like it better this time. I enjoy some of Neil Gaiman greatly (E.g.: Anansi Boys, Coraline) but others not so much.

Hi all, I'm Zane. I haven't been involved with this community. I was cleaning out my inbox and decided to read the June State of the Thing email. I finished grad school in May, so I finally have time to pursue new interests, and the group read seems like something I might enjoy. So, here I am.

I've never read Stardust, but I'm getting a copy from my local library today. The city I live in is having its first "Reading Invasion" event this evening in a local park, and I'm going to take Stardust and a lawn chair :)

Hi, I'm Debby. I love Neil Gaiman. I first read Anansi Boys a bazillion years ago (well, I may have first read Coraline to my kids). I watched both Coraline and Stardust movies with my kids (they're now adults). I've read a bunch of his books, with Anansi Boys, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, and Good Omens being favorites. I just finished Stardust audiobook late last night. I'm looking forward to rewatching the movie soon.

I’m finding some time for myself and reading this summer! Neil Gaiman has entertained me more than a few times, and I’m always surprised by his quirkiness and fantasy! Stardust is so much fun. I’m anxious to see what other readers will think of it. I’ve also read The Ocean at the End of the Lane, The Graveyard Book, and American Gods, each so different.

Hi Jake here. I just joined here not knowing whats gonna happen. About STARDUST, I did not know it is a book. I have seen the movie and I liked it very much. Watch it several times already. I have no idea about the similarities or differences between the book and the movie.
I have not read a novel in paperback for a long time.

Hi everyone, I'm Rachel. This is my first LibraryThing group read, so I'm pretty excited! I have had this book on my list for years, so I'm glad that I'm finally getting the nudge to read it. I've read several of Neil Gaiman's other books and enjoyed them--my two favorites being The Graveyard Book and The Ocean at the End of the Lane. I saw the Stardust movie several years ago and liked it (although typically my philosophy is to never watch a movie before I have read the book). Looking forward to discussing with you all :)

This will be my first LT group read. I have read some Neil Gaiman but I never read Stardust. I loved The Graveyard Book. Now that I started the book I can't wait to watch the movie.

Picked up Stardust today. I'm in the first third of another book which will be on hold so I can hopefully finish the book prior to watching the movie this Friday. I've been wanting to do a film and novel thing for a while as I have fond memories of a college course with that format/title I took 40 some years ago.

Finished reading yesterday. It was a re-read but still very enjoyable. I saw the film years ago but am unlikely to see it again in time to be able to discuss the differences.

Hi everyone. I am so glad that this book is so easy to read! Like >26 jakeabiva: above, I have seen the movie several times, and it is a movie I own I liked it so much. Loved various elements in the movie and have read both Ocean at the End of the Lane and listened to Anansi Boys about 5 years ago. That is a great book to listen to on audio with the difference in the accents and characters!

I'm really liking Stardust and might even be able to finish it tonight. Looking forward to this discussion and the film on Friday night.

Finished Stardust early this AM before work. Gaiman is one of my go-to authors as his books are entertaining. Some more memorable than others. This one was 3.5 to 4 stars. Good story but does not have the richness of my Gaiman favorites.

Late to the party - as ever - I've read stardust before and probably consider it my favourite of the few of Gaiman's works that I've read most of which I want to like them more than I do. It's a fast read for me, finishable in a day or two so I'll comment on the other threads soon.

I've not seen the film, had intended to but never got around to it, which is often the case with films. I prefer reading.
