While it's not as prestigious as a Nebula (an award given out by writing peers) and may not be as large a sign of popularity as a Hugo Award (the veracity of which has been in doubt in recent years), the Locus Award -- given out by "Locus Magazine" and voted upon by readers of the genre magazine -- is, within genre circles, a good sign of popularity amongst readers.

So kudos to LOA -- and to the late, great, Ursula K. Le Guin -- for the award!

Head over to the Locus magazine site and look under the proper heading, and you'll see that the award for Best
Collection reads as follows:
COLLECTION
WINNER: Ursula K. Le Guin: The Hainish Novels and Stories, Ursula K. Le Guin (Library of America)

And hopefully a boost to the prospect of future LOA Le Guin volumes, and perhaps a nudge in sales of the other genre offerings from LOA. I'm quite pleased with my Philip K Dick volume, for example.

>2 elenchus: I share your hope that the LOA will publish future Le Guin volumes. Since you brought up the genre offerings of the LOA, I'll admit that I was unaware of the LOA until I came across the Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler volumes.
