Good day to you. It's morning here. Outside my window I see freezing fog, which means I don't see much else. But it's a good thing. This is the middle of our winter rainy season, but it's been very dry. So rain, fog and snow are all good.

From that point of view, yes, we needed the rain, but rain at 2°C is not my idea of good weather. (I was out in it, and now all my watering cans are full and in the greenhouse.)

>3 MarthaJeanne: One rainy, cold day when I lived in the Midwest, I was walking with a British friend and commented that 50ºF and rainy had to be my least favorite weather. She looked at me witheringly and said, "Never summer in Scotland."

But 50°F is 10°C and a lot less cold than 2°C.
Scotland may not get very warm in the summer, but it also doesn't get really cold in the winter. Scottish friends had to buy proper winter gear when they moved to Vienna.
That said, Scottish canals can be very cold in September. I fell in the Edinburgh basin. This bird was further West.
