CK Important Events has the examples "Great Fire of London (1666), Battle of the Bulge (1944|1945), Assassination of John F. Kennedy (1963-11-22), Battle of Hoth"
(1944|1945) should be changed to (1944-1945)
For example, go to Russell F. Weigley, History of the United States Army, and click on any of the Important Events. "American Revolution (1775|1783)" resolves as 1783 rather than 1775-1783, "World War II (1939|1945)" resolves as 1945 rather than 1939-1945, etc., which surely can't be the intention.

In my experience, the hyphenated form also ends up as a single number (in square brackets). I've stopped adding from-to info because it ends up botched and I have no idea how to format it to avoid it

Another RSI of interest: http://www.librarything.com/topic/300729

>2 SandraArdnas: What you are experiencing affects author record CK rather than the events line of work record CK I am concerned about here. However, your problem was reported as a bug as far back ago as 2012, https://www.librarything.com/topic/145603. When you save an education, occupation and certain other lines of an author record, the pipe symbol is turned into a space-dot-space. If you open a line with a space-dot-space to edit it, and save it without changing the space-dot-spaces back into pipe symbols, LT just saves one or two dates in square brackets, as you say.
Despite the bug report having been bumped most years since 2012, it is still happening. I have just bumped the thread again.

The original RSI stands.
The examples for CK Important Events includes "Battle of the Bulge (1944|1945)".
The (1944|1945) should be changed to (1944-1945). The current example is misleading members into fouling up any event involving span-dates, including:
https://www.librarything.com/events/World+War+I -- most catalogued as 'World War I (1914|1918)', which is reported simply as '1918'.
https://www.librarything.com/events/World+War+II -- (1939-1945), reported as '1945'.
https://www.librarything.com/events/Philippine-American+War -- (1899|1902) =1902.
https://www.librarything.com/events/Great+Sioux+War -- (1876|1877) = 1877.
https://www.librarything.com/events/American+Civil+War -- (1861|1865) = 1865.
https://www.librarything.com/events/Korean+War -- (1950|1953) = 1953.
and for a non-war example:
https://www.librarything.com/events/Influenza+Epidemic : 'Influenza Epidemic (1918|1919)', reported simply as '1919'.

It's CK. Why don't you just edit the ones that don't sit right with you so they display correctly?

>6 gilroy: In the long term, much better not to mislead members in the first place.
But to answer the question, I have edited some events closest to my heart, but would hesitate to tackle the thousand or more 'World War I (1914|1918)' = '1918'.
