I have 2080 books to read and 140 audiobooks to hear. I have made another resolution not to buy any more of either this year. I have made this resolution before. My goal is 75 books and/or audiobooks. I will include graphic novels, comics series, and magazine issues in this list.

I've read several comments about not reading e-books. Most of what I read these days are e-books. My eyes are no good anymore. Especially with my Library of America volumes, I find myself buying a cheap e-book copy so I can read the material without tiring my eyes.

Welcome back, and good luck with all your resolutions! I read (and certainly buy) more ebooks these days, though in my case the issue is my dodgy wrist (RSI), which means that holding heavy books gets uncomfortable really quickly.

Last year I counted any audio program that I acquired from Audible. I thus counted one radio series, "Lights Out, Everybody," and one dramatic audio adaptation, "Carmilla." I reached my goal without the help of either of them. Does anyone think that I am violating come rule?

I do apologize for not coming up with a better title for my thread.

I read one chunkster last year and I could not have done it lying on a sofa, which how I read e-books. I am glad that you and I have a solution to our reading troubles.

Hi David.

I count whatever I consider a book - an audiobook, a Great Courses Lecture series, a physical book, an e-book.

You have given me a good idea.

15Coach_of_Alva

I will consider print books, e-books, magazine issues, anything I purchase on Audible as books. I will count graphic novels, of course, but I will count individual comics in series, i.e. issues 1-6, as one book.

Note: I am reading an unabridged edition of Burton's translation of the Thousand and One Nights. It is split into sixteen books. Since this is a huge book, I am going to count it one for each book I finish.

A question. Do you a place where I can learn to post covers and other graphics to my thread? I only know how to type text and to handle the counter.

38connie53
Bearbeitet: Nov. 20, 2019, 2:53 am

You can copy the cover by right-click on it and choosing 'copy image location' (I translated this from the Dutch site, so it might not be the exact words). Paste that in your post and add
in front img src"=
at the back "

And put this whole sentence in pointy brackets; the 'smaller than sign' and 'the bigger than sign'
No space between the brackets and the sentence.

Then it looks like this but with the pointy brackets

img src ="https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v706/Egwene1/hartelijk%20gefeliciteerd4_zpsbdaivmva.jpg"

I hope you understand my clumsy explanation.

Over in the Green Dragon group they have a thread that explains a lot of these things: http://www.librarything.com/topic/35356#

A lot of your covers are showing blank boxes. Now that LT is a secure site (has https instead of http in the address), if you copy an image from an unsecure site it doesn't show.

Also, if you use the pointy brackets with a post number when you reply to a post, LT will give you the poster's name and convert it to a link back to that post. Like this:

>42 Coach_of_Alva:

46Coach_of_Alva
Dez. 9, 2019, 11:37 pm

>45 humouress: Coach_of_Alva:
I'm not sure that I understood your last point. I have redone my first cover, with https addresses, and believe that I may have solved the problem, thanks to you!

>46 Coach_of_Alva: The one about the post numbers? You seem to have worked that out.

And you're welcome.

You can also standardise the size of your images by using either height=x or width=y (they change in proportion by themselves) in the code. Using the example in >38 connie53:

img src ="https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v706/Egwene1/hartelijk%20gefeliciteerd4_zpsbdaivmva.jpg"

img height=100 src ="https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v706/Egwene1/hartelijk%20gefeliciteerd4_zpsbdaivmva.jpg"
