- Adulthood is a Myth*
- Herding Cats*
- Harley Quinn: A Rogue's Gallery
- Lovers' Lane*
- Rickety Stitch and Gelatinous Goo
- Harley Quinn: Surprise, Surprise*
- Harley Quinn: Vote Harley*
- Cucumber Quest: The Doughnut Kingdom
- Big Mushy Happy Lump*
- Black Dahlia*
- Amy's Diary
- Bombshells: Uprising

My first read of the year was Infidel by Pornsak Pichetshote, which was excellently scary. Next up is Prism Stalker, Vol. 1 by Sloane Leong, which I don't know anything about besides that it was at the library and looked shiny.

Happy New Year for you all!

>1 sweetiegherkin:
I didn't know about the comic book adaptation of Black Dahlia. I will look for it!!!

>3 apokoliptian: It's by Rick Geary, who has a whole bunch of true crime graphic works. They are always interesting and well laid out. Every one of these I've read so far concerns an unsolved case, and he explains all the theories without showing preference for one or another.

My library has a subscription to the Hoopla service for digital books and a lot of his works are on there, so I've been catching up on ones I didn't read in the past. They are all pretty short so they make for quick (and interesting) reads.

Thanks, sweetieg.

I've been reading

Snotgirl by Bryan Lee O'Malley

Girl Town by Carolyn Nowak

On a Sunbeam by Tillie Walden

The best one I've read so far this year, by a long shot, is Livestock by Hannah Berry. She's the author of that weird and wonderful noir with a tea bag, Britten and Brulightly. In this one big pharma is trying to distract everyone while they push through human cloning. It's a sharply satiric and cynical look at our obsession with celebrities, and pr manipulation as practiced in the Trump era.

>5 jnwelch: I'll have to look for Livestock, that sounds good. Did you like On a Sunbeam?

My latest comics reads are Tamara Drewe, Plutona, and the first book of Heathen.

I was surprised yesterday by a movie called The Voices that was directed by Marjane Satrapi. I didn't know that she also had this skill other than doing comics (Persepolis).

>6 Euryale: I had mixed feelings about On a Sunbeam, Brie. I liked parts of it a lot, but it was at least twice as long as it needed to be. Too bad - I liked her Spinning, which didn't have that problem.

How did you like Tamara Drewe? I thought it was well done.

>7 apokoliptian: News to me, too.

I just read one I LOVED: Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introvert's Story by Debbie Tung. It's autobiography - she's honest, humble, and very funny. Each page (or sometimes two) has a story. Apparently she does these on Instagram. She just came out with Book Love this month, and I'm picking that up asap.

>7 apokoliptian: I liked Tamara Drewe even better than Gemma Bovary. I'm definitely going to look for Quiet Girl, too, thanks for the rec!

>9 sweetiegherkin: You'll love it, sweetieg. She's charming, and nails every one perfectly.

>10 Euryale: You're welcome, Euryale. Debbie Tung's new one, Book Love, came out last month, and we loved that one, too. (Touchstones not working). Perfect for book nerds like us.
