After not a not so successful try in 2015 I will go again for the 75. Last year I joined the 50 books group and I have finished 58 books. New year -> new goal.

Hello you both,
I am fluent in English and I speak a little French, Italian, Netherlands and Turkish. Just good enough to order a cup of coffee. Actually I lived in the Netherlands between 1997 and 2001. So my Netherlands might be slightly better.
I was fascinated of the novel Versunkenes Rot. Actually this chapter of history is more or less unknown in Germany. I defintely recommend the book. I am looking forward already to the next book from Jeroen Brouwers. Two more are translated into German.
Regards, Patrick.

Thank you, Patrick, I will move it up towards the top of the pile.
I am sure you picked up some Dutch in four years, where did you live?

Hello Anita,
I lived in Utrecht. The first two years were just great. Then my father died and I wanted to go back to Germany to take care of my mother. But it wasn't easy to find a good job. So it took nearly two years until I went back.
If I see how many book you read I guess you must be retired?
Regards, Patrick.

>13 rplinke: Not retired, Patrick, but due to disability not able to work. That gives me a lot of time to read. The first years I could not read at all because of side effect of anti-depressants. Nearly four years ago I was able to wean off the anti-depressants and ever since I read like crazy.

Great that you have made it. I think depression is still one of the diseases not really accepted by the society. And such a long a time without books: you must nearly be starved.

Thank you, mental illness is slowly a bit more accepted these days, but still not like it should be.
Even after reading over a thousand books in the last years I still feel "hungry" for reading books ;-)
