It seems there is a new and excellent reason why Pierre Teilhard de Chardin should be consigned to the dustbin of history.

Not only was he a purveyor of pseudo intellectual nonsense and recycled Origenism, it appears he was also a committed proponent of deeply racist eugenics.

Interestingly the author of the article you cite does not agree with you that Pierre Teilhard de Chardin "should be consigned to the dustbin of history". Quite the opposite, in fact:

I do think there is a way forward for Teilhardian research, in addition to further investigation of his ties to eugenics. I would welcome a renewed focus on Teilhard’s early mystical writings... I firmly believe there is a place for Teilhard in the Christian theological tradition...

However I presume we can both agree wholeheartedly with Slattery that Christian theology demands, in its beautiful paradox, that we find holiness not in the strength but in the suffering of the world, and that the path to God is found by prioritizing the broken, the poor, the outcast, the marginalized, and the oppressed and that liberation theology compels us to consider the needs of the oppressed, outcast, and differently abled over the needs of the strong.

No, the author made the study of Teilhard his lifes work, and isn't quite ready to junk it all.

However given his work here shows a racist understanding was core to the "evolutionary" theology of Teilhard, it should give those who have promoted Teilhard previously great pause.

I personally have no time for racist theology (a great heresy besides being a great sin), nor those who would make apologies for racist theologians.
