I've started reading Peace and Turmoil by Elliot Brooks.
3Sakerfalcon
I'm travelling to the city of Weep with Strange the dreamer.
4Unreachableshelf
I'm variously in England and the realm of the fae in The True Queen.
5Narilka
I've started The Spirit Thief.
6seitherin
Finished The Harp of Imach Thyssel by Patricia C. Wrede. Really enjoyed it. Next up is Caught in Crystal by Wrede.
9curioussquared
I'm in Nevermoor in The Trials of Morrigan Crow.
10humouress
Still in Andor looking for the Eye of the World.
11Niko
Starting my Fantasy Bingo for this year with the "media tie-in" square... which is taking me to Dunwall with Dishonored - The Corroded Man.
12nrmay
I'm on the island of Arranmore, off the Irish coast. It's the storm keeper's island.
Recent J fantasy by Catherine Doyle.

I'm in parallel Londons in A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab.

>15 cremorn:, I'm intrigued to see whether Tad Williams maintains it as a trilogy or if it will expand to four books. He only managed to avoid that so far with his Streets of Heaven trilogy. If you look at MST, Otherland, Shadowmarch ...
17cremorn
>16 Cecrow: yes I am a critic of book creep ... usually. omg Otherland is like 3 bucks as epub. Do you recommend? I was planning to reread the second half of Witchwood Crown but now... nah I'm fine. I dropped into the centre of the book with Jarnaulf jousting verbally with Nezeru and I'm re-hooked.

Otherland was fun, lots of layers to peel away in that series. It made a big name for Tad Williams in Germany, where they interpret it as serious literature.

Just read An easy death by Charlaine Harris. I'm not sure whether this counts as SF or fantasy, but it contains magic. A good start to a new series.

I finally gave up on finishing Freedom & Necessity, instead eating my way through Three Parts Dead. I liked the premise a lot, but I was left sort of unsatisfied by how it was used. Unsure if I will read any more in the series.
Meanwhile, based on (Sakerfalcon's?) recommendation from last month, I'm in the middle of Servant of the Underworld right now and am enjoying it a lot. I like the narrative voice and how much the mythology affects the characters' choices. I got this one from the library and will probably pay money to read the next books in the series!

>20 Kanarthi: I'm glad to hear you're enjoying Servant of the underworld! I feel it's had some undeservedly harsh reviews. But each to their own ...
I'm still visiting the city of Weep with Strange the dreamer.

Finished Caught in Crystal and started The Raven Ring, both by Patricia C. Wrede. Enjoying the light reading.
23humouress
I’m about to leave for the quidditch World Cup with my younger son where we will see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
24Niko
Seems like I'm off on a bit of a pirate adventure to explore a cursed island (for starters, anyway) in The Silver Tide.
25Sakerfalcon
I left Weep for the time being, but Strange the dreamer is in a bad place so I may have to look for the sequel. In the meantime I'm visiting The black wolves of Boston.
26Narilka
Heading to Chicago to check in on Harry Dresden for Blood Rites.
27Jenson_AKA_DL
Harry is the reason I though traveling to Chicago would be kind of neat :-)
28Unreachableshelf
I was just in Chicago seventy or eighty years earlier in Hot Lead, Cold Iron.
29tardis
>27 Jenson_AKA_DL: Harry is the reason I took a selfie with Sue, the T-Rex in the natural history museum in Chicago :)
30Jenson_AKA_DL
tardis - that is quite cool :)
31seitherin
Finished The Raven Ring by Patricia C. Wrede. Enjoyed it.
Next into the mix is The Death of the Necromancer by Martha Wells.

>31 seitherin: I will be interested in your rating of Death of the Necromancer; I just recently read The Element of Fire and can't imagine why it took me so long to find my way to this author. I would like to go on with the series once I track down the next books.
33seitherin
>32 Darth-Heather: I stumbled upon Martha Wells because of her Murderbot Diaries series of sci fi novellas. I liked them so I hunted down some of her other stuff. So far I've read The Element of Fire and City of Bones. I've liked both.
