I was born in Providence at the end of World War II. My grandfather's house is on the east side. My dad was a Navy pilot and we moved around quite a bit, but at age 2 1/2 we left. We moved back and lived there for another 2 1/2 years (2nd-4th grades) in East Greenwich. My father, and then my stepfather, were stationed at Quonset Point Naval Air Station.

I was born in Providence and lived the bulk of my life in the small town of Warren. I'm multi-generational RI and some of my relatives can be traced back to the 1650's. Know that small bump at the bottom of the state? Partly due to my ancestor.

The same ancestor had a town named for him (Burdickville) although its since been absorbed into Westerly, but there is still some signage for it....because Rhode Islanders like their little hamlets and villages. =)

My mother had an ancestor who lived in Jamestown (19th century and probably earlier).
Our family spent the summer in 1960 in Newport, and we could hear the Newport Jazz Festival and the Newport Folk Festival. My stepfather was attending the Naval Justice School there, and our third floor apartment was very close to the Redwood Library as well as to the music locale.
