A heart-wrenching story about sexual abuse and domestic violence.
What moved me most, was the fact that for a long time no one reacts. And when 'the system' reacts, the result is utterly terrible. The way the family has to free itself would never have been necessary, if people had done their duty.
The fact that the violent father is a policeman himself, and a good and respected one too, does not make things easier for the family.
I am glad I have read this book, although it tells us terrible facts. I do hope it will help people who live in an abusive environment. I also hope it will make people realize that what happens 'next door' should sometimes be investigated by the police.
To me, America is a country with many, many therapists. In this case, I am glad about that.
The end of the book is to me too overdone, but I do not mind much afther the preceding story.
