July/Aug/Sept 2020 nominations

Summer* seems far off still, but it'll be here before you know it. Which authors should provide titles for our "beach reads"? Nominate them below!

Reminder: Any author already discussed in the past 2 years is not eligible to be re-upped yet. (You can find the list here: https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/Monthly_Author_Reads)

Don't forget to second (or third, or fourth) others people's nominations. The top 3 authors will be our July-August-September reads.

Kindly get all your nominations and votes in by June 1st so that we may begin procuring our new year books.

Thank you!

*(Apologies if you're in the eastern hemisphere and these months will actually be your winter months ... just wrapping up winter blues here so I couldn't bring myself to think of anything but summer!)

Here are some nominations to get us started:

Anthony Trollope
Charles Dickens
Carol Shields
Jeanette Winterson

Feel free to second if you'd like.

And make your own nominations as well before you get stuck with what I choose. ;)

I think we could all use some "mind candy" ....

Debbie Macomber
Adriana Trigiani
Ann B Ross

I'll second Adriana Trigiani ... only read two of her books, one I didn't like and one I did. So there's a 50/50 chance I could read something I'd enjoy :)

Don't forget you can second (or third, or fourth, or whatever) an author even if someone else already has! More seconds = greater chance of that author being one of our picks.

I think I've read most of Trigani's books and enjoyed them overall. They are lighter reads, which is something I can definitely get behind. I haven't read anything by Macomber or Ross.

I'm working my way through Dickens and have been meaning to read Angel of Repose by Stegner.

A reminder than you can keep nominating and/or seconding authors here up until June 1.

Right now it looks like our top 3 are Charles Dickens, Adriana Trigiani, and Wallace Stegner. But that could change if we have more nominations or seconds!

Okay, since there were no further contributions, those 3 will be our next reads. I'll work on new threads for them. :)
