I have a small collection of books (1000 appx) that is not catalogued (yet) I. would like to make some lists by genre/author etc that I can send to patrons. Is there a way to do this with LibraryThing or Tiny Cat?

https://www.librarything.com/home#lists

You can create any list you want, but they will be communal.

Once you've got these books catalogued, you have a few options:
You could also tag books by specific genres/authors/subjects/whatever you want, and then send a link to just that listing from the tag. These would be strictly linked to your account and not subject to other edits.

Also you could create collections, then send a link of just that collection listing.

What did you have in mind?

There are some options at your disposal:
1. Collections, using TinyCat's built in text searching with categories.
You can send URLs for collections to your TinyCat patrons. Then you'll just need to send them a URL to search for that collection in TC, which is something like this (search for "DC"):
https://www.librarycat.org/lib/conceptComics/search/text/(collections:DC)
{You'll need to copy and paste as our link parser in Talk doesn't recognize the parentheticals as part of a URL}

For authors, it's very similar and the books don't even have to be in a collection. Just search for the author and give them the URL (searching for "Stan Lee"):
https://www.librarycat.org/lib/conceptComics/search/text/(author:Stan Lee)

2. Tags
Tag each book with the particular text tag. You can then send them a URL for a page showing search results for that tag.
Here is a tag search for "dc" in my comic book TinyCat lib.
https://www.librarycat.org/lib/conceptComics/search/text/(tags:dc)

And the same search for "dc" in the LT lib.

3. Lists
As posted above, but they have the drawbacks of being publicly shared data, and not really showing up in TinyCat (if that's your patrons' main interface with your library).
