Help finding romance mystery novel!

I thought I'd post this as a topic too just in case...

Hi I hope I'm posting in the right place - I'm new here! As many have said, I'm going crazy not knowing the author or title of this book.

I read it a long time ago, but I'm relatively certain it is a historical mystery romance novel. I don't think that this is part of a series. The female lead is a young woman who for some reason is brought to live with the wealthy male lead by her aunt and uncle or godparents or someone similar. I think his job has to do with ships. People are trying to kidnap or kill her? And I think there are people after the male lead too. Anyway other plot points:

- The male lead gets sick and female lead takes care of him and sleeps in his bed one night and he tells people so at dinner and she gets embarrassed and upset with him because it's improper.
- The only way to protect her is for her and the male lead to get married. They get married at his house. I think there is an attempted kidnapping of the female on the day of the wedding, but it's foiled by the male lead.
- She is nervous on the wedding night so he draws her a bath and there's a whole scene in which she's brushing her hair a million times
- The male lead has a limp or something wrong with a leg and the female lead fixes his shoes to help him
- The male lead is always busy with work.
- There's a few sex scenes. At some point the male lead thinks something like "no one had ever responded so honestly to him before."
