Can you add a work that is not in LT to a series? If you have a list of titles but do not own all of them can you add the titles of the missing works to and LT series?

Not without someone entering it. If it has not been entered by anyone before, you can add it yourself, add to the series and then delete from your catalogue. The series page will still show the work.
