Looks like they were combined, but I can find no evidence* that they are the same person, so I separated them again.

*Judging by what I've found, Jamie Hill (now Jamie Gerry) writes "Christian fiction", going so far as to say she has "gone back through her mainstream novels and revised them to align with her faith", while Jenna Byrnes writes "the hot, erotic romance she loves to read".

They might have been the same person.

ETA: Most likely are, actually.

Despite policy, though, I feel bylines/personas should be kept separate when a living author doesn't identify as both publicly. Other than the potential harm to the author, it's problematic on LibraryThing because of the confusion it causes.

By the way, information was deleted from CK without confirming whether or not it was accurate. Why?

>5 aspirit: Sorry... somehow I totally missed your entry. I agree, there is some connection.

>2 lilithcat: I think there is some connection between the "names" Jenna Byrnes and Jamie Hill. If you click on "Combine/Separate Works" on each of these author's main pages, and search for the opposite name, they have crossover. Then if you look at the books with both names, there are cover examples that are exactly the same, but with the different names. So...

Also, if you read Jamie Hill's Goodreads bio blurb ("Jamie Hill was born and raised in a beautiful, mid-sized town in Midwest, USA"), and then I found an old interview of Jenna Byrnes from Rainbow Book Reviews, which I linked to her LT Author page, it says "I’m a simple girl from a medium-sized Midwestern USA town," which is rather similar in its phraseology.

Rather than combining authors with their pseudonyms, I would like to have links showing to the right of their name or just below, that leads the LT user to their pseudonym's LT pages.

Edited for clarification/update.

>7 Conkie: I found some solid proof! http://www.erotichorizon.com/2009/04/review-wanted-jamie-hill.html 'Erotic Horizon' reviewed one of the Jenna Byrnes erotic books, but said in the URL (generated from the original post title before they edited it) that it was a book written by Jamie Hill. A passage quoted within the blog post also still says it's from "Wanted Dead or Alive (c) Jamie Hill". And Jamie Hill, using her blogger account later renamed to Jamie Gerry, even replied in the comments. It's got to be the same person, and she originally started off with the erotic fiction under her own name before changing her mind and republishing those under the pseudonym.

Thanks! I couldn't find anything that linked the two, so kudos on your research!

>6 aspirit: That was me .. I was trying to enter original title and kept screwing up. I must have deleted the canonical title with/out realizing. But, when I looked at the editions it didn't appear to need a canonical so I thought I was mistaken.

Is there a way I could see who to check with if I wanted to ask the reason for the data?

I remember reading "somewhere" that Jamie Hill Gerry was rewriting, reissuing past works to reflect her new Christian status. Perhaps that is why she is distancing herself from her pseudonym.

Excuse me, are the authors being combined?

>11 Bettesbooks: no, I meant the author CK. I'm sorry my question was vague.

Which data would you like to ask about?

>12 Bettesbooks: The rewriting was mentioned in a quote in >2 lilithcat: , but the author wasn't acknowledging the existence of erotic works at all, just some of her other "mainstream" work that she felt wasn't sufficiently Christian already. I'd expect that's the reason, though.

I don't know if these two authors ought to be combined or not (they're the same person but the author seems to wish they weren't... but there are some books already out there with the same title under both of the author names at different times...), but I'm not planning on doing any such combining myself. I had just stopped by to solve the mystery. :)
