Starting fresh can be just the thing for putting the fun back into reading; good luck!

Completed Sector General today, which also completes my reading of the omnibus Alien Emergencies.

I started reading the 3 books covered by the omnibus between Christmas and New Years' of 2019, and completing Sector General wraps that up - while it's the middle book of the 3, I ended up not having read them in the order they appear in the omnibus.

I've read some of the short stories in Sector General before, but I didn't remember the last two at all, so I'm doubtful as to whether I've ever read the whole thing before.

>4 DisassemblyOfReason:, gah, that's a fear of mine, that I'll read an omnibus and start getting mixed up about which I read. If there's any real concern, I'll put pencil checkmarks in the table of contents just to reassure myself I didn't miss anything, then I can erase them after.

Just completed Amos Malone: The Complete Stories today.

It always seems to take longer than I'd expect to complete a short story collection, for some reason.

I usually linger over them, picking away between other reads, so I think they take me longest of all, lol.

Just completed Murder by Magic.

I didn't remember some of these entries at all - "A Tremble in the Air" was pretty good, for instance, but I didn't remember anything but the title.

>8 DisassemblyOfReason:, that was a re-read? Must be good!

>9 Cecrow:

Well, I like it fine. The settings vary a lot - many historical but some contemporary and a couple far future. Some are Golden Age-flavored.

I did enjoy it.

Turns out that the title object in The Well of Darkness is a volcano - the only one in the region where the story takes place.

The narrator knows what it is, but can't explain to his companion, because the local language doesn't have the words he would need to express it.

It's part of a major scene near the end of the book, but doesn't seem to contribute to the overall plot as much as the objects named in the titles of the other books - or at least, not yet.
