Thread Continuation Link Not Working

When I click the thread continuation link at the bottom of my thread, it takes me to a page that says "This is a private group" rather than to the template to create a new one.

*Is* the group you're trying to continue the thread in a private one?

I don't think so. Anyone can join/post. It's the 75 Books Challenge. This is my thread: https://www.librarything.com/topic/327678#n7384017

Others have continued their threads with no reported problems.

A similar issue was also mentioned in the discussion of the new Groups Redesign: http://www.librarything.com/topic/328654#7383609

When reporting bugs, it's really helpful to be specific. The devs are busy, and they aren't mind-readers. Linking to the thread in question is a huge help in cases like this - nobody but you knows what you mean by "my thread" or where to find it.

In an normal group, the logical test would be for someone else to try to continue the thread to help narrow down whether the bug is specific to the thread or to the user, but I know that 75ers feel a great deal of ownership over the threads they started, so I think that's probably off the table here unless katiekrug specifically requests it.

Yes, our ab"normal" group is odd that way, with individuals starting threads about their own reading and not wanting others to continue them.

Having not, as far as I can recall, reported a bug in this venue before, I had thought that the LT folks would let me know what additional information they might need as I am also not a mind-reader. Next time, I'll forego posting here and contact the very nice and pleasant LT staff who have helped in the past.

I'm sorry, too. Next time I'll let your bug languish rather than asking the same questions staff would have.

Obviously, the questions aren't the problem since I clearly said I expected they would let me know what other information they needed. It's the lecturing, patronizing tone. But from what I've been told, that's par for the course around here.

And I don't know why you're sorry "too." I didn't apologize for anything.

>3 katiekrug: Others have continued their threads with no reported problems.

Poking around the 75ers group, I don't think any thread has been continued since yesterday when the changes to groups came out.

>9 norabelle414: - I originally posted before knowing about the changes to groups.

>1 katiekrug: I'm sorry your bug report was met with criticism. The specifics you gave seemed good enough to me.

The problem might be from the move of Groups to the LT2 design, but I suspect that only explains the error message. Members have been reporting intermittent trouble with the continuation feature since Talk was moved to the new design last year. The LT team have been able to clear out those bugs when brought up. I think? For now, they seem to be distracted with the big Groups issues.

As an aside, I'd like to point out that all the active groups for reading tracking are as "normal" as the groups without personal topics.

>1 katiekrug: and >3 katiekrug:, Thanks for the report!

In my testing, I was able to continue your thread* from my own account here (an admin account), but not using one of my test accounts. That might indicate the issue.

Can anyone else try continuing the thread posted at >3 katiekrug: -- without actually posting the continuation thread -- and let me know if you get the same "This is a private group" error message or not?

*I just checked for the ability to continue the thread, I didn't actually do so.

I just tried to continue a thread and it brought up a "New Topic" page but you can't do anything on that page. Here's what it looks like:

Oops. >12 kristi_test_02: should have been from my actual admin account here. (kristilabrie)

We are currently working on the fix for this, thanks for your patience!

Okay, this should now be fixed. We're going to make part of it look prettier, but it's functional.

Thank you! I just tried it and did get the template that normally appears, so that's good. I didn't actually create a new thread, since I did that manually already.

Again, I appreciate your fast response with so much going on!

This problem just happened to me again, albeit with a different error message. This time it says, "This time it says "Problem with concurrent query manager ... "

This bug report has been marked as fixed and it sounds like a different problem, so you should probably open a new report for it.
