Three questions

1. 'Roughing It' has not one but two illustrators. Are there other examples of LECs with more than one illustrator?

2. 'Zarathustra' has no illustrations other than the decorative chapter titles. Are there other LEC's with no illustrations?

3. Two books I know of which come with not just the slipcase and the monthly letter, but also a small booklet (with content pertaining to the book) are 'Man and Superman' and 'Pudd'nhead Wilson'. Are there other LECs which come with a similar booklet?

1) To the best of my knowledge, this was a rare practice. Off the top of my head, The Faerie Queene was one of the only commissioned LECs with new artwork to have multiple illustrators (John Austen and Agnes Miller Parker), and in this case it was due to Austen's passing midway through production. This was more common with LECs using prior art, like the three sets of Sherlock Holmes releases, for example.

2) There are several. The Prince, the first The Canterbury Tales and Troilus and Cressida (designed by George Jones), the essays of Ralph Waldo Emerson, the first Leaves of Grass, and Imaginary Conversations are a few; you can look at the master LEC bibliography and get some sense of others if you know the designers well enough; if they are the only ones who signed, it's likely not illustrated.

3) This was less common, but did happen on occasion. I don't remember another instance off the top of my head beyond First Night, which contained a box of misc. replica ephemera from the Gilbert and Sullivan shows contained within.

>3 blue.eyes: The Four Gospels only has decorated initials (and I think 3 symbols: on the title page, at the end, and on the colophon), all done by Weiss, who was also the designer. The initials and symbols read more as design elements than illustrations to me.

The Book of Proverbs has decorated pages but no illustrations.
