Making books easier to find on Tiny Cat

Just ready to launch our new kid's diversity church library and share the Tiny Cat link with our patrons. I need help knowing how to create the search by subject links under the search bar. It seems a little tricky for new patrons to browse books in the library (we only have 75 books now). Is it a matter of adding tags in Library Thing? I appreciate your help sorting this out!! Cindy

Hi Cindy,

You can certainly mimic browsing by adding links to saved searches on your TinyCat homepage. If you don't have subject or Tags that fit what you want browse-able as far as subjects go, you can certainly add all the Tags you want to your books on LibraryThing's end first.

When you're ready to add links to saved searches on your homepage, you may find a couple of examples useful: I've added links to my "Books" and "Movies" on my own TinyCat homepage here: https://www.librarycat.org/lib/kristilabrie. The books are from an Advanced Search results for Media Type, and the Movies are from an Advanced Search for my Movies collection.

One of our featured TinyCat libraries, Folio's Seattle Athenaeum, has done this as well (they mostly add links to searches for Tags within their catalog): https://www.librarycat.org/lib/FolioSeattle.

You can run your own Advanced Searches in your TinyCat and add links to those searches from your TinyCat’s Home page Settings: https://www.librarycat.org/admin/settings/home. Check out the "Pro-tips" section on our Help page here for more info: https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/TinyCat:_Settings_%C2%BB_Home_page. I hope this helps!
