Authors those over 60 re-read

What authors do you tend to re-read or buy repeatedly?

For me it's James Michener and Georgette Heyer.

I reread J R R Tolkien regularly.

My most common repeaters: Rex Stout, Shakespeare, Tolkien, James Branch Cabell, James Joyce, Ezra Pound, Dorothy Sayers, Dickens, Oscar Wilde, Conan Doyle, Faulkner, Keats, Yeats, Ed McBain, David Lodge, Wilfred Owen, Richard Russo

Henry James is the gift that keeps on giving for me. I re-read frequently. Used to read two Jane Austens a year, but I have cooled on that.

Not sure what "buy repeatedly" means? I check books out of the library or download on Kindle when price is under $10, but actively seek out any new titles by Margaret Atwood, Ken Kalfus, TC Boyle, or Max Barry.

Hmmm … you got me to thinking! I realized that I mostly reread poetry - T. S. Eliot, Dylan Thomas, Mary Oliver, etc. As I age, poetry seems to ripen, offering sweeter tastes, though sometimes the fruit has become sour or bitter (which makes it even more likely to be resavored!)

As for authors I continue to buy, there are dozens whose works almost always enthrall me - in science fiction, fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, sciences, history, politics. My problem has always been that I find the world too fascinating. I can focus, but I really find it hard to limit.
