Short science fiction story following a boy who's hunting burrowing aliens on an exoplanet. His hunting party includes adult humans and aliens who might resemble humanoid insects.
I think I read it as part of an anthology including stories by different authors (possibly a science fiction or speculative fiction collection). The anthology's title might include the genre, and "blue" or "silver" might be in the title of this particular short story, or in its first sentences. The story's probably written for young adults. Believe I read it around early to mid 2010s.
The twist is that their prey is the aliens' larvae, and the aliens turn on the boy when they find out he's basically a human larva (a child). He ends up hiding in a larva's burrow while they're hunting him, whereupon it becomes evident that the burrowers are the aliens' larvae when one metamorphosises next to him.

I don't think all the details match, but reminds me of the stories in Bloodchild and other stories by Octavia Butler.

the spoiler in the original message made me think of Grass but the details are very different
