Scottish historical romance family feud

Hi everyone, I'm trying to remember the name of a Scottish historical romance novel where the heroine and hero were neighborhood friends in feuding families. The heroine is the only daughter in the one family and the hero's family is described as barbaric. In the first chapter, both families meet to settle their differences but the hero's father is murdered and the heroine ends up marrying the hero to bring peace. I appreciate any help in figuring out the title, thanks!

Well, there's always the classic Lorna Doone by Richard Doddridge Blackmore.

Do you have any other details? How long ago did you read it? Can you remember the clan names? First or last or both? Any other minor details might help.

I recently read the sample. I can't remember what the clan names were but the last scene from the sample was the hero had walked away from the clan peace party and ventured into the heroine's bedroom accidentally. Shortly after, his father was killed. The sample included a flashback from when they were kids and he was teasing her.

Where did you read the sample? If it it was a KU book for example, that could narrow it down.

ETA although there are so many KU books maybe not :)
