Which was your favorite and why?

Mine is Blood and Gold. My favorite character is, undoubtedly, Marius de Romanus. His whole personality I can relate to, and it's interesting to see the "cause and effect" it has on his various relationships with both people and fellow vampires.

Probably Interview with the vampire. In my opinion the first and the best. My favorite character is Louis :)

I'm a huge fan of Interview with the Vampire, and The Vampire Lestat is also way up there. Those are definitely my favourite.

I was about ready to cut my head off when I read Memnoch the Devil though. I wanted vampire action with blood drinking and victims, and I got some weird adventure of a vampire going to Heaven and Hell. It wasn't really my cup of tea.

The others in the series I am ok with. They aren't brilliant works, but I certainly enjoyed them.

I like the first three, where the story:porn ratio is still in favor of story.

Porn? I didn't think any of them were particularly porn-filled.

To #4: Perhaps you're thinking of the Anita Blake books by Laurell K. Hamilton! Now there's some porn!

No, I havent read the Anita Blake series, and if it makes all the bizarre crap going on in the later ARVC books (or the Mayfair Chronicles... or the crossovers) look like anything less than porn, then no way am I ever going to.

I would have to say Interview With The Vampire because that was the first Anne Rice book I ever read and I also like Tale Of The Body Thief. I have almost all of her books and need to spend some time to finish reading The Vampire Chronicles Series, The New Vampires Tales Series and The Mafair Witches Trilogy too. So I have a lot of Anne Rice on my TBR list.

To #7, I don't get it...I didn't think there was any porn at all in the later Anne Rice Vampire Chronicle books. Where are you getting the porn idea from? I have read all 10 of the series and didn't encounter (or remember) anything that was overly sex-filled. Perhaps I am missing something?

...You might want to reread them. Bizarre "erotica" (a word I freaking hate, btw) is pretty much Anne Rice's forte. I know a lot of it's not necessarily normal sex sex because Anne Rice's vampires can't have normal sex, but "erotic situations involving gratuitous amounts of hermaphrodite-bits" (Blackwood Farm) still counts as pornographic in my book.

Oh, I remember that bit...but I hardly call it porn. And it's not like it's the whole novel...just part of the story of Quinn. If the whole book was like that, yeah, sure I'd class it as porn, but it was only one scene. *shrugs* Different definitions of porn I suppose. :)

I don't necessarily class sex as porn. Characters can have sex without it being pornographic...it's the description that makes it pornographic, in my mind, at any rate. I felt Anne Rice wrote those scenes without it falling into the porn category. But everyone has different ideas about what is classed as a mere sex scene and what crosses over to the pornographic category, so I respect your opinion on that.

There were definitely eroticism in most of her horror novels, but it didn't come off as porn, at least as far as I recall. There was one scene that I particularly remember being over-the-top ~ it was in Memnoch the Devil, and involved Lestat and a young woman (can't remember her name) who happened to be at her "time of the month" at the time of the encounter. I will say no more, but it really grossed me out. :) Although I still wouldn't call that part or any others hard or even soft porn.

BTW, my favorite Rice horror novels are Interview with the Vampire, The Witching Hour, and The Mummy.

11: Omg I remember that part.... I think the woman was Dora, wow did she annoy me. I was so grossed out too!!! Ugh.

Interview With the Vampire is my favorite and I can tolerate portions of Queen of the Damned. Following that, I would say Servant of the Bones or The Mummy.

Pandora. I'm not sure why, probably the setting of the story. But definitely Pandora.

I just re-read Pandora, actually. I agree, the setting was one of the best parts of of it. I also loved some of the ideas in it. Great book!

I've only read the first three vampire chroncles, but I like Queen of the Damned the most.
Isn't it sad that Anne Rice stopped writing the supernatural books(vampire chroncles, Witching hour)?

I've read the first 4 Vampire Chronicles books and so far, I loved Interview with the Vampire and The Tale of the Body Thief the most. Interview because Louis is my favorite and Tale of the Body Thief because it made me laugh so hard. It was refreshing and hilarious to read about the infamous Brat Prince fumbling about with his "organ" while trying to take a piss. funny as hell. :)

I loved Victoro, Pandora, The Mayfair Witches, Armand and ok the majority of Anne Rices work I love - there were only a couple that I could pass on. There a few parts in some of her books that she pushes the envelope a bit but we are talking about Vampires & not the pretty shinny ones :) You want to talk about porn/erotica then those would be her Sleeping Beauty books - I personally enjoy a little sex in the books if the book has a strong & good story line but The Beauty books were a little hardcore for me.

Pandora and Blood and Gold I have to say are my FAVORITES....I must give this disclaimer though...I love Ann Rice, all her books are extraordinary. I have never found another writer who grips me like she does. Although, her new books...the Wolfgift, and now it is becoming a Chronicle like the Vamps...I am not fond of, I need to read Wolfgift again but the first time I could not get in to it. Wish she would do more Vampires but I am sure as a person she wants to do other things so I support her decision...read the Jesus books they were great, angel books ..also great......and That is what I think...lol ♥♥♥
