I know it’ll be out of my price range, but that looks really cool!

>2 RRCBS: I suspect it will be far out of my price range as well, but I'm intrigued...

That does look intriguing! And more like it Arion...

I received the e-mail on Tuesday. Limited edition is $595 for subscriber ($850) non-subscriber; Variant, $1,200 for subscriber; $2,000 for subscriber. I went with the cheap seat ticket - the book looks interesting but I want something less whimsical if I am going to pony up more than $1K.

Arion is just too $$$$$$$$ for my taste. In the past, I've bought books from other publishers around those prices, but got so much more than I've ever gotten from an AP book.

>6 MobyRichard: well, it's a matter of taste isn't it. In general most fine press books are extremely expensive. That said, I do NOT like AP's subscription model. I can understand having a subscription, but instead of giving out huge discounts you could give subscribers other bonuses while still making the books affordable. For instance, the "limited edition" is $595 for subscribers, but a whooping $850 for everyone else! This is why I haven't purchased an AP book in years. Also, they seem to be going the Suntup route and instead of just having a regular edition, they now have the "variant edition" ($1200/1500) and the "deluxe edition" ($2000/2500).

>7 astropi: Sigh. That book does nothing for me based on the video. Risks of the subscription model.

>8 LBShoreBook: admittedly, it is a rather poor video. I still think the book looks good based on the photographs.

As a subscriber, I went with the limited. I liked the dos-à-dos variant binding, but I didn’t like it that much. Margaret Atwood is a great choice, and I’m looking forward to receiving it. That said, I hope that they publish a work of slightly more heft soon. I know the next book Woolgatherings is also on the short side…

I had high hopes for the post-Hoyem AP but I'm not seeing them realized as of yet. Prices aside, several of the titles are interesting and I wouldn't mind having if I was a subscriber. But at the prices for non-subscribers especially, none of them are interesting enough that I regret missing out on them.

>7 astropi: Yeah. Instead of going Suntup I wish they would go Thornwillow and have a inexpensive paper-wrapper edition for us yogi-teamongers...
