Beta readers for picture books?

Is there a good place to look for a beta reader for a picture book? The pictures are in it already. It's about about a robot that is confused by the imaginative instructions of two young beta testers, and runs amuck. So it's a sci-fi picture book, which I imagine limits the audience somewhat.

If you have any connections with schools or teachers, maybe start asking there? Otherwise, I guess it would be a case of trawling friends or acquaintances with children of the right age.

(Assuming you want reactions from target audience readers and not critiques etc.)

I have some family feedback. I'd like more of a critique, so I know what to fix before I just launch it. I should probably have found some writer groups at some point, but I didn't so here I am.

I'd recommend more writing related forums -- Forward Motion Writers or AbsoluteWrite come to mind off the top of my head.
There's also a critique board on Reddit.
Also have you looked into any of the writing related Discord servers that exist?

I've had good experiences with Scribophile for critiques, but it can be a slow process. It looks like there are a few picture book authors there.

Thank you everyone. I will look into some of these, and see if I can find a good group.

I'd be happy to beta read it for you, but I would highly suggest getting an editor. Editors catch things that beta readers can't, and it would most likely not be very expensive because of the lower word count.

Thank you for the offer, it's very kind of you. I found someone, and they explained what was wrong with it, so I'm back the the beginning with writing for now.

>8 StorybookCat: Well, more feedback can't hurt, so if you're looking for beta readers again after the rewrite, feel free to contact me. :-)
