I love the work of Prototype Press! Highly recommend everything I've had so far — each piece is inventive and unlike anything else I own.

The press has released a video showing off the book: https://vimeo.com/630396791

The books from Prototype, and its predecessor Sharp Teeth Press before David Johnston's tragic passing, are amazing. The STP edition of Civil Disobedience is a treasure and a very relevant reminder for activists today as it was in Thoreau's day. I loved how their titles were a mix of acclaimed writers and literature along with highlighting local writers and writing as they did with Me, Myself & the Monkeyface Eel and others.

As a Chesapeake Bay native whose heartland is Maryland, I am extremely excited to see Mark working out of Maryland. And we already have Consider the Oyster to show that he is going to keep up the local leaning of the press. Along those lines I would love to see a fine/private press edition of Chesapeake but it would be way out of my price range if Prototype tackled it, probably in the range of Ham on Rye. Unfortunately, so is the Oyster or I would already be clearing a spot for it on my shelf.

For those interested in Mark's output over the years, I've reviewed several of their books on my blog, The Whole Book Experience.

Yes, I have the STP Civil Disobedience and 2BR02B, both very cool.
Couldn’t afford Ham on Rye, mores the pity.

I only have the STP Civil Disobedience and 2BR02B but from what I've seen at a distance it looks like they upped their game (and prices) with the switch to the Prototype Press.

Very excited to be doing a review of Consider the Oyster for The Whole Book Experience. First impressions are WOW!!!. Makes me want some oyster stew from the Doylestown Inn. (I googled it. Not on the menu anymore. The 50 people that buy this book are gonna be mad if they make the trip for it.)

Stay tuned for the review. I have another book review ahead of it. And I have to finish reading it...
