EP advertising

Is it just me or do others getting bombarded with Easton Press advertising? I get 3 to 4 emails every single day and two to four mailings a week without fail. I realize they need to advertise but this is just way too much!

I wasn’t getting anything, even sale notices, despite my best efforts to get on their email list. So I created a new email that I use only for Easton and now I get inundated like you. They know which books I’ve clicked on and zero in on those. It’s kind of scary.

I get very little.

I just want to receive my books from them. 3 months and counting.

I get maybe one email per quarter anymore. I get 2-4 brochures in the mail per week, though.

I get 2-4 emails a day, every day. It just feels like spam at this point.

Same for emails. Thankfully no physical mail.

So basically, what all of these posts are suggesting, is that Easton Press still offers no consistency whatsoever in how it markets its books, and quite probably, has no idea how disorganized it really is, nor how frustrating it is to its customers. The sad part is, this thread could have been dated 5 years ago, maybe even 10, and it wouldn't be any different.

>13 treereader: The same goes for trying to get them to use a modern technique called tracked shipping.

>14 Gilded_Tomes1:

Aren't all DLEs already automatically shipped and tracked through FedEx?

Defaulting to tracked shipping for all shipments is probably a considerable expense and would make a noticeable dent in their profits. I suspect that the vast majority of their customers are comfortable without this feature, especially given EP's historical track record of making good on lost and damaged shipments.

I set up an account with FedEx, and they notify me with a tracking number when a package is shipped to my address. DLEs require a signature, so I request that the package be delivered to their “on-site office” at my local Walgreens in case I’m not home to receive the delivery.

It would be simpler if EP would use the Post Office priority mail, but they don’t provide that option.

>17 whytewolf1: EP does not offer tracked shipping outside the USA. I would gladly pay any and all shipping expenses for this feature. they wouldn't see any dent in their profits at all

This weekend, EP has exceeded the normal excessive number of ads sent to my email address, something in excess of 25 just since Thursday. Its hard to understand how they think this is a wise move?

I just unsubscribed, and their message is: "Thank you. Please allow 2-3 weeks for us to process this request."

With regret, I just unsubscribed too, same stupid message.
Will they EVER learn?
Lovely products but idiots running their IT department.

EP has also started sending me physical mail, about one letter a week. So I've got that going for me.

>22 Frank_Zwolinski: I would not blame it on their IT Department, but rather on their Marketing Department or perhaps MBI's. Idiot is a heavy word and maybe even not applicable here if the orders come from the top...

EP can go from overwhelming to complete zero marketing. I believe customers are on a sliding scale. Once you order, EP inundates you with emails and mailers. This gradually peters out until several months to a year from your last order it dries up completely. This is one of the reasons their marketing effort is a disaster. Basically, you will not get any notification of their Black Friday/Cyber Monday/New Year Sale unless you have ordered recently. This failure gets compounded by the fact that their website does not advertise any of the aforementioned sales directly via banners etc. even after you log in on the day of the sale... Once you are off the wagon, it is very difficult to get back on it, which some of us here experienced.

10% Birthday discount? 10% Anniversary discount? Bundling discount? Early preorder discount? NO-NO-NO-NO

It didn't help that the sales list was only 23 items long. Of those 23 items, only 2 were of interest to me, and I already bought 1.5 of them long ago. Whatever. I can't complain too much since it was only a sale - at least they're still in business.

However, so long as EP is managed strictly as a mediocre revenue stream by a mediocre collectibles company that doesn't respect the product they make outsource, we'll continue to get half-baked product descriptions, poor translations, limited product variety, poor communications and bleak future where EP lay right beside LEC and Franklin.

>24 EPsonNY: Perhaps my word choice was poor, but today I finally got fed up. And, I too, receive too many paper mailings. I like the products, just not the 'high pressure' selling. I check the website often to look for any new items and will buy when I am interested, these mailings do not prod me.
