- I think book was published in late 1960s or early/mid 1970s.
- Book is based New York City and/or nearby boroughs.
- Teen girl is following someone who lands up going to public pool.
- While she is changing to leave, containers of yeast she bought at the store earlier explode in her bag from temperature change or steam (?) in locker room.
- I feel like she is working for someone who is a detective or who pretends to be one.
- Feel like the book is sort of similar to/reminds me of "The Tattooed Potato" by Ellen Raskin, but I've confirmed that it's not the same book.
