Looking Ahead to 2022!

So, here we all are ... nearing the end of 2021. Many of us may be finishing up some projects before the holidays or end of the year; or perhaps we are just taking a bit of a break before the new year starts.

My question is: Do you have any specific plans, projects or goals with regards to your craft for the coming year? Or perhaps you are looking to learn something new?

---------------------------------------------

(Also, I thought it might be nice if we each try to invite another LTer to join us here in the group; or post an invitation to this group in another group you belong to. What do you think?

I don’t think I can say I have any specific plans yet (apart from finishing up projects I’ve started), they’re a bit vague still. I would like to knit a sweater (my first!) and do a couple of home decor things for my flat that I hope I will get soon. There are of course a million and one other things I want to do, but it’s all either depending on what I feel like in the moment, what material I have available and what else is happening in my life.
I would really like to try nålbindning, though. Maybe for a vacation project?

I think it’s a great idea to invite people here. I mentioned the Needlearts group in my 75’ers thread and one of my “regulars” joined the group (but I don’t think she’s posting).

I have a small xstitch piece on my frame that I need to finish up and then maybe I can finally start one of the bigger pieces I purchased last year. I am really hoping to have more time to sew this year.

I am going to be frantically finishing Christmas gifts up until February at this rate, I'm afraid!

After that I'm keeping it open; I have a lot of options and other than finishing the flamework needlepoint I'm not sure what I want to try next.

I'm taking a break until after Christmas. I have a few priority items to finish once the new year starts. A set of baby quilts for twins coming in Apr (who will probably be early), those wedding quilts need to be quilted and given, and a quilt to hang from the porch on Jul 4th will be my first projects after I clean up the sewing room.

I guess I'm on a bit of a break as well. I always have *something* going on. Right now I'm knitting the second in a pair of socks and I'm warping my loom for some log cabin towels.

Now that I've finished the Masters program, I want to devote some time to charity knitting. I have two beneficiaries in mind at the moment. My local guild is collecting hats, mitts, scarves, socks, etc. for an organization serving homeless and at-risk youth. They will accept items made of any type of fiber, and I have a lot of wool in my stash, so should be able to make several hats. The other beneficiary is South Dakota's Pine Ridge Reservation. There's a group on Ravelry that collects blanket squares, sews them together, and donates blankets/afghans. They do not accept wool but I've ordered some acrylic blends that are recommended for this type of work.

Too funny - we've all been there!

I am on a break, I guess, after the four lap quilts.

Bathroom renovation—at least for the professionals—will be 'finished' tomorrow. Wallpaper goes up when the guy has time in his schedule. I don't know how much of what I still need to do will get done before the new year (window and wall treatments, re-finishing a seat...)

First, the studio needs another organization and clean-up!

Earlier in the year I had cut more than a few sets of patchwork to make my usual number of lap quilts for charity but never got to them between the renovation and bronchitis; however, I could do some of them this winter unless I am inspired to start another project ....

I have made so many quilts over the past 40 (!) years...everyone has been gifted one or more, and my house is full of them! Still, I am a compulsive quilter, so there will be more.

I am thinking of once again making some of my own tops. I used to make a lot of clothes, until it became less expensive to buy them (was that the 90s?) I think it's been near 20 years since I made myself clothing.

I've also decided to make a resolution to do some sewing every day, even if it's only 15-20 minutes. (Can you just see me 10 minutes before bedtime dashing into the sewing room to sew a couple of seams? ha ha)

>9 dudes22: I did something similar last month where I made a tick mark in my calendar every day I’d knitted more than 200 stitches (which isn’t exactly a lot, but I wanted it to be possible to reach the target every day). Worked a treat, even if I did do the mad-dash-knitting-before-bed a few times.

>10 PawsforThought: - I find I sometimes put off going into the sewing room if I don't think there's enough time to be productive. But if I even did 15 min a day, that's almost 2 hours a week which sounds better. I think I'll try to plan a project or two that will work without needing too much planning - some kind of scrap quilting maybe.

I think my studio needs a good clean-out and re-organization. And now that the bathroom renovations are 98% done, and most of what was in the bathroom closets is back in those bathrooms, freeing up space again in the guest room... I can thus move the exercise bike and other stuff out of my studio.

>11 dudes22: I find some projects work better than others for those short stints at the sewing machine. I think you are on track with the scrap quilts.

Today, I started some cross stitch. I have been crocheting a lot and I think everyone has enough scarfs so this year I am going to do more cross stitch and embroidery some pillowcases for Christmas gifts.
