I read this book about 20 years ago and here's what I remember:
I think male lead's name was Scott Prescott. He's half Lakota Sioux and half white. Of course he falls in love with a white woman. He breaks an unbreakable horse using Indian techniques and the white men who lost the contest are angry about it. He participates in the Sun Dance ritual to become more involved with his Native American heritage because he'd been trying to live as a white man to please his grandfather. If any one thinks they know the title, please let me know!! Thanks ever so much!!!
