Curious as to whether FS are considering a Sample Sale this year - when they sell off overstocks and (usually only slight) seconds - I emailed them to enquire. Now that Covid is somewhat less of an issue it's maybe something they are considering - and it turns out they are!
I had a very helpful and quick reply: "We're definitely thinking about it, yes, and hope to have some good news for you later this year."
It will need to be in a different venue, as the location in Southwark, London, which they used in pre-pandemic days has now closed. But still a hopeful outlook!

Those old pop-up sales were a lot of fun, but I'm worried they won't work in this day and age. I know the first time I went it was a gentile and orderly affair, perusing books (and other things!) in a pleasant wine merchant's store with respectable fellow collectors. The last time, right before the pandemic, it was a stampede of people rushing to gram armfuls of books (that they no doubt hoped to immediately flip on eBay). Real shame, and I felt sorry for the staff on that later occasion, but I can only imagine things would be even worse given the current eBay bubble. Given that they're selling barely blemished books for £10 each, I'd buy the entire stock from them on the spot if they'd let me.
