Who else remembers that surreal was Word of the Year in 2016?

https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/woty2016-top-looked-up-words-surre...

I keep thinking that as disturbing as the USA is now, at least I'm no longer asking myself through the day every day "Is this real? This can't be real, can it? Don't more people know better than this? We're not in a dystopian novel?"

The following Words of the Year:
feminism, 2017
justice, 2018
they, 2019
pandemic, 2020
vaccine, 2021

That list is a concise overview of the past several years in US politics, isn't it?

I am fortunate to have moved into the Napa Valley before it became popular. The other morning I witnessed a "Napa Eclipse" A balloon crossed in front of the setting moon.

>9 JGL53: Yesterday afternoon I attended a meeting at a church, downstairs, next to the kitchen. Someone from the morning service had known we’d be there and left the coffee and treats out for us. We didn’t finish what was there and hesitated to just leave it out and didn’t know storage protocols. So we took the rest home with us. Cake, rice Krispy treats, and brownies. Sorry, all I have left is the brownies now.
Want one?

I'm at a conference in Rome and the sweet cake type snacks they serve during coffee breaks are really good.

Pie is better. You must be a bot from the corporate cake cabal.

Oh my. There appears to be a sinister axis of cake & coffee bots. Still, I soldier on. Pie is the way forward...

Specifically, Coca Cola Cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream at Cracker Barrel restaurant.

And, no, you don't have to be a "cracker" to eat at CB since there are locations in 45 states now.

(And, no, i have no financial interest in CB, though I sure wish I did.)
