I am having difficulty posting a review to Facebook. I have unlinked and re-linked, but that didn't fix the issue. What else can I do?

Sorry for the trouble. I was just able to share a review of my own on my Facebook, so I'm going to need more information to dig into this:

1. First, I should ask, are you still having trouble sharing your review on Facebook from LT?
2. If so, what page are you trying to share a review from, and what title?
3. What browser and what OS (operating system) are you using (e.g. Google Chrome, version 90 and Windows 7, etc.)?
4. What steps are you taking to share the review? Please outline step-by-step instructions, including which buttons/links you're selecting, what you see change on your page after each step, any error message/s you're seeing, etc., so I can follow along and try to reproduce your issue.

Thanks in advance for your help, and your patience!

I'm still having issues. My review just will not show up on FB. I am also having the same problem with Goodreads. However, with GR I have been getting weird messages when my review is not posted.

We can't help you with any GoodReads problems, as that's a separate entity

>4 gilroy:

2)I'm not sure if I can answer this. I am using the link found at the bottom of my written review page.

3)Chrome/laptop. I'm not using an app.

4) A Hundred Other Girls
The It Girl
The 6:20 Man
Suburban Hell
ETC
The last book that I was able to post was "The Watchmakers".

I know that you can't help with Goodread; it was just odd to me that I am finding the same issues with both companies.

Re: #2: can you give me the link to the actual page for one of the reviews you're working from?

Re: #4: I need step-by-step instructions of your process for writing/posting/sharing a review from LibraryThing for any one of the titles you listed. For example:

"Step 1: Go to "Your books" and search for "A Hundred Other Girls": https://www.librarything.com/catalog/Cats57&deepsearch=a+hundred+other+girls" or

"Step 1: Go to the book page for "A Hundred Other Girls": https://www.librarything.com/work/27879475/book/221018527", etc.

Thanks for your help!

#2 -https://www.librarything.com/work/27385526/details/221692193&savedbook=1

I search for the book, add it to my library by hitting 'add books', and then hit the pencil, and type in a review.
I finish writing my review, click on Share on Facebook at the bottom of my review---"Share on Facebook/ Twitter

Review language: English
Edit"

I scroll to the bottom of the review page and hit save.

I'm sorry that I am not more computer savvy to understand what more I can give you.

That works, thanks! I'll see what I can find with some testing tomorrow.

>7 Cats57: Okay, I tested this out on my end adding the same book in your example and editing to add a review immediately after adding:

- After hitting the bottom "Save" button, I'm returned to the "Add books" page and it takes a few seconds before the "Share?" pop-up opens.
- If I click the "Post to Facebook" button, a 2nd "Post to Facebook" pop-up opens within Facebook
- From the "Post to Facebook" pop-up, I can add/edit my post on Facebook in order to share my newly created review from LT. I can hit the "Post to Facebook" button to post my review to FB.

Screenshot of the two pop-ups I have to go through to share my review:

Can you tell me if you're seeing these steps on your end? I'm wondering if the "Share?" pop-up or "Post to Facebook" pop-up are taking too long to show up for you, and it's either timing out or failing somehow, or perhaps you're leaving the page before it shows up.

Ah, more that I've found:

1. It looks like your Facebook link from your App Settings (https://www.librarything.com/settings/sites) has issues that need to be resolved: can you try to fix them? What do you see happen?

2. My own settings do not have my Facebook linked, but I was logged into Facebook in my browser which enabled me to share my review.

2A. When I select the "Link Facebook Account" button, the page URL (https://www.librarything.com/settings/sites) changes to https://www.librarything.com/editprofile/sites#_=_ and nothing else happens.

(Not sure if this is notable for the devs or not: in the dev console, whenever I hover over the "Link Facebook Account" button, I see a new "lt.rolloverEnter" pop-up with the following:

Link Facebook Account

When I stop hovering over the button, a new "lt.rolloverExit" action is recorded in the console.)

I wonder if there's some bug with LibraryThing's Facebook linking that's causing issues sharing reviews from LT.

Don't worry about it anymore I'll just link my reviews by hand. I'll still keep trying from here to see if the issue clears up.

Yes, I've done everything you said, and yes, I see the same screen you do, but for me, I just get a constant download symbol. I have never had to wait at all, but now I do, and after a few minutes, I give up.

As for your second post-the best, I could figure out to do was to unlink my FB account and then to re-add it. Still doesn't work.

>11 Cats57: Thanks for testing! I wonder if you unlinked your Facebook and then tried sharing your review, if that would help. Then we would know the issue might lie with LibraryThing's Facebook API/linking.

I don't know anything about unlinking things -I'm afraid of screwing things up even more.

>13 Cats57: You mentioned unlinking your Facebook account and re-adding it. I was wondering if you unlinked your Facebook account (from the same settings page where you link it: https://www.librarything.com/settings/sites), and kept it that way, if sharing your review to FB would then work (as long as you are logged into Facebook in your browser).
