Another seasonal change is upon us. What 1001 books are you reading to start the fourth quarter? end the third quarter?

I have been and will be reading Quo Vadis for the foreseeable future.

Listening on audio to Far from the Madding Crowd which is terrific.
On paper, just finished The Goalie's Anxiety at the Penalty Kick and am reading off-list while waiting for The Satanic Verses to arrive.

I am currently tackling The Making of Americans by Gertrude Stein. If there is a more tedious book on the list I’ve not yet come across it.

>6 puckers: I bought that thinking it was something I should read and it's been sitting on my shelves for years. You're not convincing me! ;-)

>7 japaul22: I’m listening to it on audiobook and (over one third through the 52 hours) am persisting in the hope that something in her style or substance will change. My hopes are fading with each passing hour. Full review to follow if I make it.

I've also, apparently, begun reading and researching Life A User's Manual...

>1 ELiz_M: Aren't we still in the third quarter? I hope so. And as for seasonal change we are actually having some of the nicest weather we've had all summer.

Like Jayne I am reading a Salman Rushdie book but it's Midnight's Children which is much funnier than I thought it would be. I can see why it won the Booker Prize.

>11 gypsysmom: Oops, yes. September is such an absolute seasonal change -- with the end of summer (in the northern hemisphere) marked by the beginning of the school year, I always think it must also be the beginning of the fourth & final quarter of the year.
