What are you reading?

I thought I'd start a new topic to try to jump-start discussion here again.

I'm currently reading Heaven Chronicles by Joan D. Vinge. I've also recently read Judge by Karen Traviss and Grimpsace by Ann Aguirre.

I just finished Touch of Darkness by Christina Dodd.

Right now I'm reading Changeling by Yasmine Galenorn. Haven't gotten too far into it, but so far it's good.

I'm also reading Personal Demons by Stacia Kane. So far the heroine in that one is a little TSTL, but otherwise it seems alright. Kane's got a knack for cramming a lot into one scene.

I'm a bit behind on my Karen Traviss. I still haven't read the book that came before Judge (can't remember the title at the moment). I like to read her books on the plane because they take my mind off flying. Since I have to fly a few times a year, I save them until then. Have you read the Jani Killian series by Kristine Smith? I really liked those, and the style is similar to Traviss's.

I read Grimspace as soon as it arrived at my house, and thought it was really good, too---especially as a first novel. I was really happy to see the sequel coming out so soon after the first one. It'll be interesting to see what happens next.

I love Christina Dodd. How'd you like Touch?

Haven't read Karen Traviss.

I'm still reeling (in a good way) from Touch of Twilight, the new Vicki Pettersson. So so good.

Grimpsace is such an awesome name.

I just started Once Bitten, Twice Shy by Jennifer Rardin, which is the first in her "Jaz Parks" series. The protagonist is a government-sanctioned assassin partnered with a very old vampire. It's fun so far.

I liked Touch pretty well. The whole series seems fairly well thought out. I'm looking forward to reading the next two this summer.

Right now I'm working my way through A Lick of Frost by Laurell K. Hamilton. It's going well---a lot more plot in this one than some of the previous installments, which I like.

I read and loved Jennifer Rardin's Jaz Parks series. It is one of the few series that I'm willing to buy brand-new (ever since I discovered PBS my new book purchases have plummeted). She has a really refreshing writing style. I always feel like I'm watching a long-awaited movie motion picture, like a new episode of the X-Men or Star Trek crossed with James Bond when I read her books.

I am addicted to the Laurell K Hamilton books with Frost and Darkness. I love the politics of the sidhe. I also like the Sookie Stackhouse books and the Rachel Caine weather warden series.

I'm reading Holy Smokes by Katie MacAlister which is the fourth of her Aisling Grey series. It is okay so far although maybe not as engrossing as some of the others of the series.

I love all the Laurell K. Hamilton books (yes, even the later Anita Blakes), and A Lick of Frost made me cry...

I like the complicated intrigue in the fairy books by Hamilton. And the sex. I do worry that she will keep writing the Blake Books and stop the Meridith series. It is hard to find books with bite. A lot are just romances, that is all well and good, but I want more that are just plain scary or take you to a vastly different place.

I also love reading books by Laurell K. Hamilton.
I will admit though, I read Blood Noir and it wasn't a good book at ALL.
Maybe it's because it didn't pick up where The Harlequin left off, but I didn't like it.
Oh well, hopefully the new Merry book coming out this fall will be better.

I have Nina Bangs' Eternal Pleasure and Minda Webb's The Daughters Grimm on deck. Several others afterward. I'm in dire need of a book binge.

I'm reading Lilith Saintcrow's Dante Valentine series. I started with book 3 (slaps forehead), but will go back and read 1 and 2.

I have just finished reading the first Lilith Saintcrow Dante Valentine book and thoroughly loved it - so much so that I had to buy the rest of the series as I can't get them through the library! I have just started J R Ward's Lover Revealed, I anticipate the it will be a good as the first three, totally unputdownable.

I finished off the Dante Valentine series - it's quite an enjoyable read - I think you'll like it, mitchsz.

ETA: I just finished Wicked Gentlemen.

im at the moment reading Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake serie again... (again again) *smiles*
i adore her Meredith Gentry serie, with the seelie and the unseelie court.. i sooo wanna read "a lick of frost" gimme.. ^^
im with booklover79 on her vison... i would cry if she stopped writing about Frost and Darkness... seriusly.

Rob Thurman's Nightlife which is sounds a bit like supernatural tv show, but I am only a little way in !

Patricia Briggs' On the Prowl, and Devon Monk's Magic to the Bone. I'm debating checking out Bone Crossed, but worry then I wouldn't buy the paperback when it comes out.

Helcura--Did you like Wicked Gentlemen by Ginn Hale? I did. And I wish there were more stories about those characters. (it's M/M for those who may need to know.)

vicouslittlething-- Rob Thurman's Cal Leandros series is one of my favorite Urban Fantasy series.

NEW BLOOD by Gail Dayton
Amanusa is a half-English, half-Romanian healer/hedge-witch who lives in a cottage near a forest in Transylvania and is plagued by vicious rebels living in the hills who demand she help their wounded men. Jax is a centuries-old servant to a Blood Sorceress, who, before she is killed in the 17th century, commands Jax to seek out her successor and give her the knowledge she puts in his head. He's been looking for two hundred years and finally finds Amanusa. She's hesitant to trust him (she's been abused by men in the past) but she wants freedom from the rebels and justice for the murders of her parents and brother. Lots of harrowing action and adventure ensue.

Oh, Wicked Gentlemen was great! Someone on LT turned me on to it, and I'm so glad they did. I agree, I'd like more about those characters.
