Two of the most commonly shared books in this group are The most beautiful house in the world by Witold Rybczynski and The poetics of space by Gaston Bachelard.

I have Bachelard but not Rybczynski - Are you the opposite? Is anyone interested in a swap?

In my opinion, those with Rybczynski would be foolish to swap for Bachelard. (Although his bibliography might be more useful than his text.)

I suspect you're right, but then it doesn't have to be a permanent trade :)

An observation - Rybczynski books are probably second only to FLLW books on the Books Most Frequently Given to Architects by Family & Friends. I own 2 or 3 Rybczynski books, all of which were given to me. Of those I have only read his bio of Olmstead, which was pretty good.

It definitely makes sense to take a look at Rybczynski if you're reading Bachelard. He's not difficult to get into. The most beautiful house in the world drew me in pretty quickly. I'd also recomend Space and Place: the perspective of experience by Yi-Fu Tuan.
