Vaulted Treasures: Historical Medical Books at the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library

University of Virginia

View an on-line exhibit of over 50 printed treasures, published between 1493 and 1819. The exhibit includes a wide range of published works. Some are simple text editions while others contain illustrations of the human body or fanciful landscapes. The exhibit also shows the range of book formats from small pocket-sized volumes to a huge tome weighing 18 pounds with a cover that exceeds four square feet.
