It's been a while since there's been much activity here at Almack's, so I thought I'd try a new topic: fantasy casting for a Georgette Heyer movie.
In the “What is your Favorite Heyer?” topic, it seems to me that Venetia and Frederica got the most votes. Frederica has more characters, I think, so I'm settling on that. Whom would you cast for a movie of Frederica? I don't keep up with the latest hot actors, so I'll confine myself to suggesting Sophie Thompson for Lucretia Dauntry. The list of major characters on the LT page for the book seems pretty complete (thank you to whoever did that!), although it's missing minor characters, for example the people involved in the Green Park episode and in Felix's adventures.

My compliments to the patronesses! The Reluctant Widow was actually filmed. I wonder why that particular novel, since the plot is implausible and the characters' behavior to get around the implausible plot is even more implausible. Nevertheless it's one of my favorites--I'm just disappointed she doesn't get to keep the house.
I vote Reese Witherspoon for the title role in Venetia.

Frederica should be a young brunette, preferably a british one. That is how I have always seen her. Somewhat thin and not overly curvy.
So no Kate Winslett (too old anyways) someone in there early twenties, or still able to play there early twenties (which excludes Rachel Weisz who tried to carry it off recently and feel failed.)
Since I suggest British, that rules out Anne Hathaway who has played a Brit (Jane Austen actually) and is getting a lot of play, but this leads me to my choice, her co-star from Prada, a brunette brit of the right age, Emily Blunt.

For Frederica, how about Romola Garais (Have I spelled that right?). She was so terrific in the last BBC version of Emma.
Can I put in a quick vote for my favorite heroine, Sophy?
