Hi everyone and hello to Guy!
I was wondering if signed copies of 'Major Benjy' will be available at the Martello Bookshop in Rye upon publication.
I spoke to a man at the bookshop last weekend and he had not even heard of the book! He advised that nothing had been arranged re a booksigning or orders.
If this is true, it is a great shame that this eagerly awaited Mapp and Lucia instalment will not be getting pride of place in the Rye bookshop.
Guy - would you be able to advise on this please or to update us on where we can get a signed copy?
Thanks to all.
Regards,
vpaladin.

Believe me, I have contacted the Martello repeatedly by email, phone and letter over the last few months, so for them to say that they know nothing about it is ... disingenuous, shall we say politely.
They are very anti-Benson for some reason, unlike the previous owners, who were great luciaphiles. I am happy to confirm however, that Aiofe Coleman at Rye Old Books (7 Lion Street) has copies available, though they may not be signed. There will definitely be signed copies available at the talk on Saturday afternoon. See the separate posting on this.

Hi Guy
Thank you for the invitation for tomorrow - I shall certainly try to make my way over there.
It's such a shame about the Martello Bookshop but at least it will be available in another Rye bookshop. I'm sure they'll sell well and I look forward to getting a copy!
Good luck for tomorrow!
