Hi gang! I think I found you from the Kindle Yahoo group. I went to sign up and found that I'd already joined back in 2006! Anyway, I got my Kindle in February and don't know how I existed without it! I just finished The 19th Wife and really enjoyed how the author changed his voice several times. I've also finished The Source on my Kindle...something I've been wanting to do for a long time, but I didn't want to haul around ten pounds of treeware!
This looks like a pretty active group. I'll try to stay involved. I'm working full time and going to school full time too!

Welcome RedLady! Sorry for the late response, haven't been online as much as I used to lately. I have been reading the Charlaine Harris southern vampire series, they are quick reads and fun.

I know what you mean about not wanting to haul around those big books, Kindle is great for that. I hear there is going to be a new version of the Kindle coming out in October, will be interesting to see if that is true and if so what they change. For me the only thing I would really like is better Library management features, like being able to organize my books in folders etc.. or at least mark the ones that are read and be able to hide them.

billtaichi,

where did you read that a new version was coming out in October?

RedLady, welcome. I have Pillars of the Earth (I think that's what it is called) and Les Miz on the kindle just for that reason - because they are super long. I hope you enjoy the group. I have gotten some great reviews out of it.

Hey rehalik,

Here is one site where I saw the new kindle rumor.
http://www.crunchgear.com/2008/07/15/kindle-20-coming-around-october-2008/

BUT I also recently saw this

http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/08/28/extinguish-the-rumors-no-new-kindle-thi...

So who really knows, I suspect the second article is right and the earliest we will see a new version is next year.

I read somewhere that there will be no new Kindle at least for this year. Where did I read it? I dunno, but I think Publisher's Weekly had an article stating that there would be no Kindle this year.
