I don't know if any of you watch "Bones" but today's episode was about dogs and dog fighting and at the end Bones was burring a dog that killed a man because his owner gave the command to attack with the intent to kill, but becuase the dog did the killing he was put down even though Bones wanted to adopt him. This dog was adopted young then taken to a vet by the first owners to be put down because he got too big. Then adopted by a man who used him for dog fighting. She gave a great speach at the burial that I thought I'd share.

"On behalf of human kind, Universe. I'd like to apologize for what happened to Ripley. He was born a cute little puppy and then the people who adopted him wanted to kill him because they were too stupid to realize that he would grow into a big dog. Ripley was a good dog. He didn't want to fight but he did it to please his master. He didn't want to attack a human being but he did it to please his master. You know, it wasn't Ripley's fault that his master was cruel and selfish. Like all dogs Ripley only saw the good in people, dogs are like that, people should take a lesson."

Mandy2,

I just wanted to say a big Thank YOU!!! for posting this. I watched Bones last night and wanted to blog about her speech at the very end. But, I figured I'd have to wait a while till I could see the episode on the FOX website. I wanted to put it verbatim, esp. the part about 'He was born a cute little puppy and then the people who adopted him wanted to kill him because they were too stupid to realize that he would grow into a big dog.' I want to make a bumper sticker about that for those idiots who do just that, get a puppy, not thinking any further ahead than now, not looking into the future when the dog is grown up and bigger than they were thinking. Thanks again.

I watched that episode Mandy. It was so sad when she wanted to adopt Ripley and they said they had to put him down. She had bought a leash and everything. I loved the speech she gave though.

It's so sad when people adopt a puppy and then give it up when it gets older and bigger. If they didn't want a dog, then why did they adopt it in the first place? People are so stupid. I also hate people who breed dogs to fight. That's so mean. The dogs don't have a choice. :(
