Montana:

A River Runs Through It by Norman Maclean

I've never even been to Montana, so I can't vouch for it as a Montana flavoured book. But, what a wonderful book! Not sure if you would call this fiction (which it is) or nonfiction (which it almost is).

Also Young Men and Fire, by the same Norman Maclean, about a famous and fatal forest fire. I saw the site when I was out there. The book is beautiful and moving, as well as informative.

James Crumley's detective novels The Last Good Kiss and The Wrong Case are memorably set in Montana.

I was just going to bring up "How To Be Lost"!

Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson is another. Although tags says "Wahington State" it is almost entirely set in Montana.
